1200 GW for a tug.
Hav e found a 1200 GW with low miles and a low price. I allready have a Champion Escort sidecar. The question here is if this bike and car would make a good combination and if there is anything to be concerned about when setting this up. Is there a CT size that is compatable for the 1200? I'm Sure if this goes along there will be many more questions. Any input would be appricated and thanks.
The 1100 and 1200 GL's make great tugs. The first year of the 1200 (1984) had a few quirks like most first year changeovers. GL1200/Escort is a good combo sizewise.
The only snag might be if you have a short frame Escort.

OK, How do you determine which frame you have. This car was originally on a 92 wing for several years before the previous owner converted to a trike.
The short frame is about 28 inches between the lower mounts, the long 33. Either can be made to work. We do make a mounting kit for your bike. One issue with the GL1200 for some reason they always end up needing a steering damper. As the sidecar was on a GL1500 it will be the long frame as the long frame was developed originaly for the GL1500 as it is quite a bit longer then most other bikes. When using the long frame, your front lower mounts end up often angle to the rear rather then forward, not what we are use to looking at but no reason not to do it this way.
