Hi Ron & Shirley:
Welcome!
Thank you for your private message, but for some reason I cannot post there. The site doesn't recognize me as a registered user. You can reach me at gpcalrep@verizon.net.
There are a couple of sidecarists in your area, so I hope that they contact you, and you can get in some local riding. Several of us are talking about making a run to Joshua Tree, and also to a restaurant (Josephine's) in Desert Hot Springs.
If you are interested, send me an "e" and we can set up a meet.
Hope to hear from you.
Gail

I just moved to Valley Springs, CA (Calaveras County) near Sac. Was in Vegas for 3 years and 20 years in Simi Valley before that.

Don't have a sidecar yet but am looking for one for my '03 FLTRI. Would like to talk to some people with experience so I can figure out the best one to get. I want to be able to take my dog with me on rides!

Hello Chili,

My folks live near Valley Springs at Galt and I get over that way frequently. I'd be happy to ride over and have a talk with you and show off one or two of my rigs.

Hi:
There is an annual day rally at Lake Berryessa in May. Here is a link to the 2008 information, and contact info for the Northern Cal sidecarists.
The Sidecarist newsletter, a publication free to United Sidecar Association (USCA) members, does have a calendar of events section, but it doesn't necessarily list the small more informal gatherings. Check with Don in the Berryessa link. He might be able to give you better information... Just as a heads up, the National USCA Rally will be in Lake Tahoe in June 2009.
A really great Sidecar Rally will be this Sunday the 19th. Location: Griffith Park. Not really in Nor Cal, but really worth the trip.
Safe riding, Gail

I had to cancel my plans to attend the Griffith Park Rally this year. This coming Saturday, I'm riding with the NorCal Airheads BMW group. The ride starts in Berkeley at 9 am and goes up to Mt. Diablo and then on to a microbrew lunch. I will probably be the only sidecar there, but there are several others in the group.

My company has relocated me to SoCal. The office is in Rancho Santa Margarita and I am currently living in San Clemente. I now have a 90 Gold Wing with a CA sidecar.

Welcome to the area.
I don't know what distances you like to travel, but the SoCalSidecar Club http://www.socalsidecarclub.com has a lot of nice riders.
There are some United Sidecar Assoc. (USCA) members in San Diego and surrounding area. Some of us will be meeting for a Christmas parade ride in Dec. in Perris (that's over Ortega Pass from you). There is also a USCA West site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/USCAWest/. Besides easy chats, there is info on upcoming events.

If you are new to sidecaring, let me remind you that there is free information on driving a rig at the www.sidecar.com website.
Safe riding to you.
GP

Cool! Thanks. I just joined the Yahoo group. Will try to make the Perris meet.

Got my rig in December - a Velorex 562 buckled onto a HD Sportster 883. Been up and down the coast a bit and around the neighborhood here in Aptos/Watsonville.

Give me a holler if you're passing through.

Now living in Lake Elsinore / Murietta area. Been out riding a few times and having a blast. Took a ride over the Ortega and up PCH to Huntington the other day. Came back on the 405 / 5 and was very pleased with how the rig handled on the freeway. I was a little nervous about it but ran at 75 MPH with no problems. Almost better at those speeds than the surface streets. Hit Old Town Temecula on Saturday.

Anyone else riding around in So Cal lately?

Count me in. I've got family just south of Sacramento and I'm over there almost weekly. I live in Bodega Bay.
