Come in...CCjon......
The BattleWing Galactica will be departing PNW headquarters in a few days, and wants to make sure those wankers on the rental BMW's didn't persuade you to go backwards to your former brand of choice, and that you are still on the...Red Wing w/Hannigan sidecar.

Arrived in Loreto this afternoon, after stopping to see Pricess Jamaica for a few minutes. He and I will have more time to talk next week.
Here are some photos from the first couple of days of the trip that could not be posted due to slow internet service.
A rest stop for thirsty bikers
What's Baja without fish tacos?
Group gas stop
San Felipe waterfront shrine

More photos from days 3 thru 5..
Long stretches of two lane highway, watch for potholes...
Sunrise on San Felipe beach
Tides out at San Felipe
When there is no PEMEX, you do what you have to do...
The Englishman in the group does not drink coffee, but insists on his tea everyday.
He was upset when I told him this restaurant had no "T".
Sunrise the next day on the way to whale watching.
One small boat for twelve persons...
Getting in was a step
But we got to see the grey whales up close.
There is a small tent camp at the point overlooking the whale lagoon. Windy but could be an interesting spot to stay for a few days.

a long time ago that we did not go for whale watching... very nice.

I had no idea you were a professional photographer, Jan. Makes my snapshots look like, well, snapshots!
Looks like a never a dull moment fun trip. At fist glance I thought the San Flippe shrine was Alcatraz. The cross says otherwise...

Since my fellow Washingtonians were the last two to post on this thread...about the Baja Mexico mini-rally, I thought I would chime in....as a fellow Washingtonian that will be riding my new sidecar rig down to Baja Mexico, and will do my best to represent all Washingtonians in the mini-rally that will include one Texan (CCjon...or Jan) and one Baja-ian (Princess Jamaica...or Tim)
Leaving Western Washington in 4.4 hours, and heading down 1,850 miles to Bahia Concepcion, Baja Mexico. Entire trip, down there and back to home, should be close to 4,000 miles, and will be 6 days of riding, and 3 days of sitting around watching Jan and Tim pet whales.
As we all know, having a sidecar means there is more than enough room for all the necessities one might want to bring along for a trip like this, SO....I have a fairly large cooler sitting on the seat in the sidecar (it is my sidecar monkey for this trip) and I am bringing along with me 60 cans of drink, so that I know WHAT I am drinking, and know it is SAFE to drink.

Safe riding Miles, watch out for potholes, loose cattle, dogs, horses... and the REAL TOPES mixed in with the fake topes.
I'll arrive Wednesday afternoon. Look for the Red(pink)-white and green building on your left after Playa Santispec, as you enter Bahia Concepcion. If you miss the condo building on your left, Princess Jamaica's house is the last one on the right.
Jan

Jan, I too will arrive Wednesday afternoon.
Today was a short day, only 311 miles, just to get On The Road, and south of the Portland, Oregon traffic. Spending the night in Canyonville, Oregon.
Tomorrow's ride will be 490 miles, to Santa Nella, California.

As we reach the older southern sections of Baja, old Spanish churches are on the agenda. Churches over 300 years old.
In San Ignacio
Then on the outskirts of Mulege
Of course in the evening it's fish tacos and cold drinks on the menu...
What is the waitress at the end of the table doing.... enlarge that image to see
Ah, pouring a row of tequila shooters...
Well if you blink, this is what a tequila shooter looks like...
Tonight we sleep well, tomorrow we ride south.

CCjon....Jan.... important PM and email and text sent to you.

Got the messages, replied.

Leaving San Ignacio and the whales, we ride south to El Triunfo and La Paz.
El Triunfo is making a come back as a tourist attraction after the silver mine closed a couple decades ago. What looks like a bar... is,
and a restaurant...
and a bakery shop with some of the lightest croissants in Mexico.
Arriving in La Paz, the second largest city in Baja, it's Saturday evening. The place will soon come alive with people on the Malecón.
Not a sight one sees everyday... proud papa skating with stroller.
Soon the baby will be skateboarding on their own...
On the Malecón, boys will... show off their physical prowlness for the girls.
Girls will, look their best by showing off the latest fashion, to impress the boys.
Hmmm, Am so old if you showed up in school with torn jeans, you were made fun of.
Young couples will do... young couples things on the beach.
And your typical street vendors, appearing out of nowhere, push their carts to where the people are.
No matter where one goes on this little blue globe, our human activity is timeless and the same. Language and customs separate us, but our common life experiences bind us. Our identical life cycle of the human DNA allows us to identify with a fellow human. In all my travels, have never been anywhere where people would not help you if you needed it.
Ignore what the political leaders say, we are all not so different from one another.
