you can replace the thin rubber strip that goes between the cars body and the windshield, just be careful when removing it not to force it. clean everything up good and install the new rubber and reinstall the windshield, again being careful not to overtighten the screws that hold it on.

Ok great. Is this rubber strip a manufacturer part, and of course where can i get one =) I think i will get new screws etc as well.

I think there is a bit of a twist somewhere as there is a gap on the front corner, a bit windy with the top up i suspect

Thanks

Steve

Miles the mess is between the windscreen and the body, that is why i put the picture in for reference. Yes it still seals etc.

Also, you might be able to just remove the shield, clean everything up good and reuse the rubber strip, if it's not torn or damaged. when I repainted my sidecar I was able to clean everything up and reuse the strip. As for getting a new one I would start with somewhere like Texas sidecars, Call Kent I'm sure he can help you with that and the screws, but unless the screws are damaged I would just reuse them. I did however replace ALL my little chrome buttons and clips that go under them

Hay Guys an Gals

Just been messing around trying to get my wonky sidecar top half to line up; Bit like me i guess lop sided =)

Oiled catches, made sure rubber is fitted properly. Tried removing gas struts to take any pressure off.

I am assuming it must be the hinge assenbly?

Oh yeah i passed my Motorcycle test and my latest MRI looks like a clean slate, find out Wednesday.

Meet Sam =) anchor point fitted so he gets to go for a ride soon, Just posing in the garage right now

That car should make for a nice comfortable ride for Sam, but please do think about getting him a harness so you can move the attachment point for that leash off his collar.  Might be OK for putt-putting around but you have to think of the worst scenario which is what happens in a crash.  Sam's chances will be better with a harness.

Not sure -- do we have a thread here about dog harnesses and attachment systems?

Have owned 5 rigs but Rig #2 is my current one!

Steve, I’m Varn in SC.  I was the owner of that rig.  It was my 1st.  Ive talked to Miles  about you and just ran into your post.  It warmed my heart to see the pictures.   Congratulations.  You’ve got yourself a very nice rig.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Hay Varn

Great to hear from you, thanks again for setting up the opportunity for me to buy this rig. I still have a big silly grin riding and working on the outfit. Just trimmed the sidecar screen down a bit looks good. Also fitted a removable backrest that lifts out when i want to climb aboard; i have to slide backwards onto the rear seat swing my leg over and drop forward onto the riders seat. Just removed the steering damper to see what its like without it. Find out tomorrow =) I hope this note finds you well and in good health and enjoying life. Do you still ride Varn?

Yes, I do still ride.  Have had back issues and am doing my therapy again. ( should have never gotten lazy & stopped).  I’m supposed to leave in the morning to head up to Hiawassee, Ga.  A little rallye.  ( just an excuse to go somewhere, camp, and have a destination.).  We’ll see how I feel in the morning.  Gonna take the GSA W/ Hannigan rig & pull the Lee-sure-lite camper. Are you going to the National in Mississippi?   Call me anytime. (803)942-0717.  God bless.

Varn GOOD glad you are riding still. Therapy of course i get; just in the middle of chemo right now fortunately i am a person who is able to handle it better than most. Chemo drug triggered a heart attack in Feb last year while at the Cancer Center. Nurses bought me back 3 stents and just passed the stress test last week. Right now Cancer is all but gone after second liver surgery and naprostomy tube is about to be removed, jeez what a mess chuckle. Anything i do right now is dependent on chemo etc but that's ok

Still pulling together camping gear waiting for a tent to arrive. Timing feels pretty good i will go somewhere local first to try out all the camping stuff then a rally would be fun i think but nothing booked.

Steve,  I glad to hear that report about the cancer.  Praise God, looks like you’re gonna beat this thing.  So, when you get it all going I’d love to see you and your rig come up the drive way for a visit.  You would be welcome here.  Prayers & best wishes. Stay strong & continue to heal up☝️☝️

Varn

Thanks for the invite. i am going to try and do the national rally if i can get the EZ steer fitted in time. That will make it much easier for me to do the miles with maximum enjoyment. Just waiting on estimate and potential timetable =)

Varn

You may know this already but one of the very best ways to gain mobility/range of movement is to do exercises in a swimming pool. The water supports the body weight and so there is less chance of strain etc. If the water is nice and warm so much the better. plenty of exercises that can be done using the kitchen counter for support while waiting for coffee. Get creative and have fun with it =)
