1942 Harley-Davidson wla military $19,500
This is collectable , relative story I encountered about 7-8 Dutchman riding WLA thru my home town Rochester MN they shipped the wla's to Chicago in a container fly over from the NL and went to Sturgis they where off to Milwaukee to visit HD home. Some restored some unrestored USArmy livery left in the NL after the war.
How many different models did HD actually build for the US Military during WWII? Anyone know?
In an Ohio HD museum, there was an opposing twin (BMW style) motorcycle built by HD for the US Army. Supposedly, parts from the BMW motorcycle Germany was using were interchangeable with the HD bike?
During WWll the US Army asked H-D to produce a motorcycle that could compete with the BMW R71, that Germany was using.
H-D produced the XA, and Indian produced the 841.
Here is both the H-D XA, which never saw action in WWll, followed by the Indian 841.
