I have a 2010 Ural Red October that is barely able to keep up with my buds. I bought the Red October because the gear ratio gives you a fewer rpm at 65mph. Still not enough. After 8000km, it's got to go. I'm looking at any advice you might have on a quality sidecar for this bike that comes in, assembled at under 85 inches in width, the side of my toy hauler bay. Looked at the Hannigan and heard about the trunk latch noise. I need the comfort for the passenger and no impedance to the ride. Any suggestions?

I'd certainly talk to Hannigan. I don't know if they've done a Vision yet. I've had 2 Hannigans (currently a GTL on a GL1800) and don't find the latch situation to be a deal breaker. My wife loves the comfort of the GTL. We do a fair amount of long distance touring.

Another thought is to talk to Claude Stanley at Freedom Sidecars. (570) 837-5120, cstanley@sunlink.net He's a Hannigan dealer but is also one of the best custom fabricators in the business. Great guy to deal with and always willing to share his extensive knowledge. He's built 2 (well, one of them in process) custom VStrom rigs for me.
