Hello Felix,
That is the GS650, isn't it?
How does it behave on steep hill up and down...?

As for Hank:
As it looks Felix's bike would be be marvellous for to go to Northyorkshire and stroll over the Moores near Catterick Camp and Reeth.....
For to open the gates my CB650 (solo) was always pulling over the first gear with stopped engine...
I guess Your Red Beach Hunter is more for the promenade...too sweat to push it through winter salt
I still dream of going to fish to Hampton upon Tine.
Wished to have the oportunity to visit England again.

Hello Sven,

Its the last year of the F650 GS series. Lots of hills here on Connecticut. Right hand up hill is easier that it looks. Down hill--well it gets interesting unless the hack is occupied. I seem to have problems making left turns. But alas, it occurs on my two feet as well--could be inner ear balance thing.

For snow, I just took out my sleds from summer hibernation. Hope this year is a doozy for Southern New England.

Hello Felix,
The bike seems to be pretty tall and the sidecar suspension of the Sputnic is very soft as the Superelastic from MZ. The best remedy for that is to mount a torsion bar that equalizes a little the dive on both sides.
For me that was the reason not to get a Kawa KLR650 as working horse. For the Velorez sidecar.
Regards
Sven

Sven

I lucked out as I have the stiffest Sputnik spring ever made. I can get a dive with about 250 pounds (US) in the tub otherwise, its fairly stiff and rough. I was going to replace the spring with a softer rated one off one of my snowmobiles but decided not to. A future upgrade is to swap out the Russian shock and replace it with the front steering R1200 shock. Its almost a match with some minor mods.

This is my only bike, for now anyways, that I use for commuting to from work. I plan on riding until up to the first snowfall here in Connecticut.

Hello Felix,
Your saying about hacks and happyness is not completely true. As always in life there can not be only sun shine. A little rain and salt in the supper are necesary. For me riding a rig has as result frequently bad back akes, costly visits at the doctor and at the engine repairshop...
See some stories in the raods to go section...

But in deed riding a rig has one incredible advantage. It let you make "Minivacations" each morning on the way to work and it permits you to go back in mind to the time when you were free and unbound..... (Who was riding his dogs in his "Time machine"?)(in my case when I didn't even know what is a day without akeing bones for 8 years, to that time I used to sleep on styrofoam or plywood because of the bad back, but I got to know nearly all Western Europe )
In Costa Rica we have the saying. "Pura vida" - Pure life!

Enjoy it in every flavour it comes with...
Best luck.
Sven

Hola Sven,

Algo que no sabes es que yo soy Cubano.

The original quote is: "All I ask is a chance to prove that money can't make me happy". Obviously money isn't everything and anything one wants for immediate gratification. But alas, I digress.

Hola Felix,

Hello Hank,
that sounds great, best even if I could come with Ex Mayor Henry Jennings from Catterick Camp who is like a second father for me. And I guess he hasn't ridden a sidecar since Korea. The last time I had been there in the Moores a few days before 9/11 it was like comeing home after 14 years of absence.
Good bless you.
Sven
