After having discussed the road-related dangers for a solo-rider, here is another question:

One potential threat I'm actually concerned with is wild animals. I gonna do a lot of camping, both in the South and in the Rockies. If I have the stamina I tour from Florida to Big Bend NP, along the continental divide up to the Glacier NP, then heading West - lots of fauna&flora out there. What to do on a bike when a moose is standing on the street? (happened to a friend of mine once, don't remember what he did). What about security from wildlife in campgrounds in Florida, in the Everglades (snakes, alligators)? Sorry if this sounds naive, but I have no idea how it is down there on byways and campgrounds.

Do not feed the gators and check your sleeping bag before getting into it.

They're saying that in the Everglades the Burmese pythons have decimated almost everything alive except the alligators. They attack them also.

Not much you can do about a moose, they go where they want to. Just stop and wait for him to move on.

makes sense, probably with most big animals - a moose is not a mouse; thanks @comet66 for updating me on zoo-behavior!

Makes sense, Richard. I guess the best is to spend the night on the zoological camp ground in the sidecar;-)

watch out for deer while riding ,they run out in front of you.out west shake out your clothes and boots in the morning .and watch out for skunks .i have a few stories about them [funny now but not when they happened] . always watch your surroundings [which people on motorcycles do] and enjoy your trip

As road hazards go, deer are the most common, particularly during the later sunlight hours and well in to the night. You're unlikely to see a moose in any of the places you mentioned.

While camping, start out by asking the ground manager or park ranger where you are about what to watch for. General rules are:
-make sure you don't have anything that smells tasty anywhere near you or anything you value. If you do, a racoon or bear WILL find it and can make a real mess out of both you and your rig.
-if you find yourself near a bear, get its attention and back away slowly.
-while sleeping, make sure your tent is zipped up or you may find a snake cuddled up to you, particularly in lowlands like SC, FL, or LA.
