Trailer hitch
Anyone ever put the hide a hitch on a champion escort sidecar ? Was wandering how it installs, etc. Would like to be able to tow small camper in future. The hide a hitch is in the accessories listing from Dauntless motors, but I would like to see more info about it, or pictures of it installed. Thanks. Egor
I am certainly no expert, but, unless I misread your post, i would think a trailer should be attached to the tug (bike), not the sidecar.

There used to be some debate back and forth on this Greg but for the most part most have come around to the fact that a trailer towed from the left frame rail area of the sidecar works best under all conditions.
Thanks for the input guys. So far I haven't found any pictures of the unit installed on a Champion Escort sidecar, but I did get a discription from Jay at Dauntless Motors as to where it slips into framerail on the car. I guess I'll just have to take a chance and get one. Thanks again for the advice. Egor
come to RON DEE VOO. you will see every trailer hitch set up under the sun.

Claude, is this because it centers the trailer hitch on the rig? I would have thought that a traler attached to the car would amplify the effects of the car, i.e. pull to right on acceleration, left under braking?
thanks, greg
Can't get to Ron-dee-voo this year because family reunion is on the same weekend. Am going to try to get out to the one near Clarion, Pa, which is two weeks after the Ron-dee-voo. Thanks, Egor.

I'm sure that's the reason Greg. I had intended to do the same with mine but didn't see any reasonable way to move it so still tow directly behind the bike. My cargo trailer is small and relativly narrow. Works well. I sold my Kwik Kamp as part of raising the funds for the Liberty. If I still towed it, I'd probably have to reconsider moving the hitch because the KK was so wide.
I pull a Roll-a-home pop-up camper which is 48 inches wide. The left frame pull Escort spot seemed like a little too much strain on mounts and such so in order to get the left sides to line up without a over-width permit, I offset the receiver hitch 8 inches to the right. Seems to work well. The trailer fully loaded weighs about 600 lbs.

Thanks for your input, Ralf and others. the camper I'm looking at is 40x60 folded, weighs 265lbs, with a 25lb tounge weight. I will certainly check everything before mounting hitch anywhere on rig. Egor
here's a couple pics of my mount in the proper centered position between bike and SC.
If you have a heavy SC and light bike, you will notice more push/pull to the left and right with a heavy trailer. on my K100 rig with MV FII, there is VERY little difference with or without the big cargo trailer..set up in great!!
Thanks for the pictures Bob. I intend on centering hitch before towing with my rig. Egor.
