tire pressure
few different websides recomend max tire pressure on all three tires.
What do you guys use.
Thought about maxing my Valkyrie and texas ranger, but don't know if it is a good idea.
Thanks
David
On my Harley tugged rigs, with motorcycle tires, I've used the 2 up tire pressures with good results. Using maximum pressure with a hack will just wear the center of the tread out sooner and give a harder ride.
With car tires use less pressure. Automotive tires are designed to carry a lot more weight so the casings and sidewalls are sturdier and will give a choppy, bouncing ride if overinflated.
Many sidecar tires have pressure limits up to 60 PSI (auto type) but run best at about 20+ something PSI.

David I recommend you to make a test ride as guest in your own sidecar.
Myself I got quite good results out of it.
The originally recommended tire pressures were overkill with the Mitas tires but way too soft still with Chinese tires....(I'll never go back to that rip off, only 2000km on a back tire for 10 $ less) So I started with soft tires, took a portable compressor and let a nephew ride, while I observed the tires behaviour on gravel and in hard ridden bends on a parking lot. slowly but steadily we rose pressures, now I am happy with 28-31PSI on front, 27-30 on sidecar and 28-32 on the back depending on the load.(original Mitas tires on Jawa 350-Velorex 560)
The amazing thing is when I get down to see level I always have to refill the tires.
As art of magic 3 PSI get lost driving down hill and come back riding back home uphill... (here we have one road that lifts you on 25km from 360m to 3300m, and I live on 1400m a.s.l.)
With car tires I remember a friend on his Beemer going down to 17 PSI because the walls were so stiff of their own. He simply made the same thing. The tire wearing surface should be flat on the ground and the walls should not warp too much in a hard driven bend. A rig with car tires doesn't need truck ply rating that would be overkill too.
Bike tires when overinflated will have very little grip for steering and breaking, but might flip off the rim when too little pressure is present. On the rig always go for the higher ply rating motorcycle tires.
Best wishes for your spring. We have here the most beautiful summer we had for years. ... and no time for riding out into the green.
