The Last Laugh
Today I was parking my motorcycle with the sidecar carrying my two dogs. A lady I know came running up and said that she was with her 87 year old stepdad. He was at the clinic getting treated for an ailment and saw me and was quite impressed with the rig and dogs sporting doggles. She asked me to drive by slowly and wave to her stepfather when I leave.
Finishing my business I left driving by slowly waving and beeping the horn. This evening I received a call from this lady telling me that her stepfather went to the drugstore after I left where he collapsed and is now brain dead. They have taken him off life support and that he won't live to long. She told me that the last laugh that her stepfather enjoyed was seeing me drive by with my dogs in the sidecar.
This is one of those rare situations that one could be happy and sad at the same time and both are genuine feelings. Nice that you could make his day.
