Thanks...
Thanks you one and all....
And Happy Birthday Marine Corps! [Thanks Comet...]

And whether you call today Veteran's Day, Armistice Day or Rememberance Day, on this the 11th day of the 11th month, I thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

And in KΓΆln (Germany) they celebrate the beginning of the Carnaval...
I do remember well, because in the University we had lots of people from there and today 25 years ago I gave a presentation being pretty drunk. On top I got a good note.
So a few pints seem to help to free the toungue.
And 29 years ago I just came out of a Nato manuever as the quarter makers driver. Brrrrr that was cold.. On top I had to celebrate my birthday on "all souls" with 2 Pfennig in my pocket. not even for a candy was our national service wage good...
Sorry guys if You think I am about to spill your day.
No, my service time wasn't good, even being in Quartell I had to lend last help.
I do want to make a toast on my Godfather Henry Jennings the decade long Quartermaker at the Royal signals.
May God bless his health and mind.
You tought me to stick stubburn to the good principles and the only thing that really counts is that your conscience stays clean.
Cheers on you Henry and may God save the Queen.
Sven
PS: 8th September 2001 after visiting the fishing pool Henry built with his fishing buddies, I still had the tool knife on my belt when I stepped into the Darlington Airport safety revision. But Henry and Janet had allready left the building. The officer who was as surprised as me myself, just said: " Put it into the portafolio."
Those were times which changed drastically the next day when I brought my son to school on our side of the big pond....
Semper fi!!!
My thanks to all veterans including my wife, my oldest son, my middle son, my youngest stepson and his oldest son who is now serving in Afghanistan.
