I was going to take the cargobox and chasis off the hondasaurus on sunday and ride the 750
for a few days before I took it over for a major tune up. After reading the article regarding that taking off the rig and riding solo again might not be advisable as the mc and rig may be set up for each other. My 750 is a 1971 k1 and I doubt that any real changes were made when the owner built the cargo box but I am apprehensive. any good advise and suggestions would be appreciated.

There are only a few things to be concerned with. Take a good look at the tires. If they are worn flat, it could be a real trick to lean on them. It would be much worse than newer car tires which actually are round on the edges.
The second thing to look at is the front forks. If they have been altered it will be very difficult to handle the bike on two wheels. Normally this is real obvious, as the front wheel will sit out ahead of the axle, but sometimes it can be quite subtle.

Unless the triple tree was modified or you have leading link forks, there will not be a major problem. If the tires have been on a while and the tread is flat, when you go into turn it may lurch a little but will not be major. I have done this many times in 29 years of sidecaring. Just do it.

That's what I mean by subtle. Unless you have another bike of equal model and age, sometimes it's hard to tell if the triple tree has been moddified. On some models, guys have also reversed the forks to alter the wheel lead. Both of these things are rare, but just the same, could have been done. I have to agree with Doug though. Pull it off and give t a try. Slowly at first. :0)
