I recieved a e-mail asking for info about a Stoyer sidecar. I don't remember ever seeing one. Can anyone out there come up with any info at all? Thanks J.R.

Looked a lot like this one... http://www.sauer-sidecar.de/classic_en.htm There used to be one on a BMW down around Hartland, WI. I may have some old photos around here somewhere.

Hard enough to find info with the correct spelling- there's no "r" at the end. "Stoye" German made I belive. They look a Lot like a bigger Steib LS200. Stunning sidecar. Hard to find.

Not sure links work around here, but Google will show you the same picture.

Uncle E is right...various models of Stoyes were made. Google 'Stoye sidecar' and you will find some info.

Uncle Ernie,
congratulation, You won the price! here ist the history:
http://www.stoye-seitenwagen.de/modelle.htm
Interesting, I thought they would have given up in the 60ties, no until at least 1989 they were active. I have seen quite a bit of them when I lived back on the other side of the "big Spit pot" as we use to say.
If I get time I might lurk to make a resume in English.

Sven Peter

Fast history:
foundation 1925,
their design was put into the ZΓΌndapp and BMW WW2 sidecars => means Stoye is the original designer of nowadays Ural, Dnepr and CJ sidecars
Stoye continued after the war for the East German motorcycles
1961 converted to partially governmental company
1972 completely governmental take over (the son of one of the founders (Main manager) got a ridiculous compensation) => became part of MZ nd continued building the Superelasitk sidecar as my first sidecar was.
1989 broke East germany => MZ has a hard time since then and nearly doesn't sell sidecars. I fear that the plant was disarmed by the "Treuhandgesellschaft" As so many to that time still competitive East German companies were pushed into bankruptcy by the Helmut Kohl government.

The fusion and bankruptcy wave from 1990 to 1997 black outed thousands of east german governmentalyzed and hundreds of West German companies with many years and quite a few generations of existing. (the big became bigger and the small disapeared)

Doesn't it sound familiar?
Regards
Sven Peter
