I know that these are no longer available (new), but have seen some pop up from time to time and wonder if they might be a good match for a 70's BMW R100 or R90 airhead (with appropriate subframe of course). Are parts available for Sputniks, or are there parts that are easily adapted? Is the frame/axle/wheel up to the task of being mounted to an R90 or R100 and run both on interstate and on gravel roads (no off roading with this one). Any info appreciated.

thanks,
Mike

There are a "few" parts for the Sputnik sidecare at Dauntless Motor Company (DMC). I have had one on a 1200 Harley-Davidson Sportster for nine years and so far all I have replaced is one windshield. They are a fine little" low end" hack.

Parts are where you find them. Pretty much on our own now. Mine has H/D turn signal lenses on it now.

I don't think you need worry about spare parts.....what ya going to need ? maybe a replacement fender at most.... easy to find using EBAY or better yet... make a custom...always more kool... I saw one of the ones that Dauntless mounted to a BMW F650 and I was totally impressed....perfect rig....if I was looking for a off-road rig that is what I would go for....

I have a Velorex 560 on my R90/6 using a Dauntless sub-frame...probably about the same weight...and it works perfect... I imagine it would be no problem for Jay to build a sub-frame that would mount that Sputnick perfectly....he's the man when it comes to those...

I'm replacing the old broken shock with a motorcycle shock. Need to get a bracket made and welded to where the the top bolts.
