All:

I have a Spirit Eagle sidecar with a spoked wheel that I'd like to build up another wheel for, but I need to locate a (preferably) 36 hole hub that will work with a set of standard 1" tapered trailer wheel bearings.

I can get a nice Excel rim and spokes from one of my regular suppliers, but so far am batting .000 on the hub.

I was wondering if anyone out there had a source?

Thanks,

Chris

Might be a toughie,
Most US bike wheels used 40 spoke hubs. Think SAE sizing (1" hub).
Metrics preferred 36 spoke hubs. Hubs would also be metric sized.
The only hubs I know of that would be 1" ID are late ('07,'08 model Harley hubs and they would be 40 spokers. This hub would have (or take) bearings to fit a 1" axle.

Actually a 40H hole hub would work, providing I could find the right rim. I'm thinking 36 because I want to use a black Excel motocross rim, but right now the hub is the major gotcha.

There is a bare 36 hole and 40 hole hub part way down the page. No other info on them but since they are made by JAWA, I assume they are metric.

Are you shure you have 1" axle? Now even US machinery comes in metric bearings because they are much cheaper and better! At least SKF runs out Timken quite a few times. And Timken are pretty good.
If you bound to 1" axle then you can ask at a bearing specialist. There are special brearings available that have Inch internal diameter and metric external diameter. But don't ask the price. probably you get 5-6 metric for 3 pure inch or 1 mixed dimention bearings.
