I just returned from a trip to the klammath River in CA from Brookings, OR. A buddy of mine was down there dredging gold with a few of his mining pals. They pulled out nearly five ounces of gold for their efforts and had a great time as well. I got an oppurtunity to see first hand how professionals dredge and it was a lot of fun at that. The trip down and back was more fun though and I got the best gas mileage (40 MPG) on my Vulcan 1600 Classic/Velorex 562 rig to date.

Yup Lonnie, HWY 96 is a nice ride and I am going to eventually try the section between OBrien, OR and Happy Camp, CA.

If you liked HWY 96 try HWY 3 from Yreka to Weaverville. Then you have an nice drive to either I-5 or 101. Used to haul logs out of there back in the 70s.
