Someone stole my 1979 Yamaha XS 1100 with Ural sidecar on Monday, 6/12, from under the viaduct near Jackson and Alaskan Way. The rig is black and fairly distinctive. Front forks of the bike have been modified for sidecar handling by Pete Smith; the seat is custom with red piping. The bike has no faring and has been equipped with an oil cooler on the front of the engine. The sidecar has a special diamond plate installed on the step up rail and there is a somewhat funky plate installed on the cut out on the right side of the sidecar that I installed to keep my dog/children from leaning out. This is an old girl with little commercial value but I ride it every day to work. If you see it on the street or notice someone driving it, give the police a call. VIN # is 3H3005890.

Appreciate if you would pass this along to others in the area who move in sidecar circles.

Aw, man! I see (saw) that rig there often. I'm so bummed that it was nicked! I'll definitely keep a vengeful eye open for the rig.

I'm sorry to hear this.
On the bright side, it is too distinctive to "fence" (sell) easily.
On the not too bright side, they may take off the sidecar and will crash and hurt or kill themseves.
It was most likely a theft of opportunity, a joy ride. The police will probably recover it for you.
I'll be watching in Idaho

Steve, I'm stunned. Really really pissed off. I guess I'll not write what I'm really thinking. Very sorry.

And don't park the Raticade under the Alaska Way viaduct unless you're doing a sting...

I may have missed something about this, but was wondering what, if anything, was going on with the stolen rig? Any luck?
