I snapped this pic (hope the tiny url works)on a trip to Bryce Canyon last year. Gotta love "The Beagle Buggy." I don't know whether the dog is exposed to too much in the way of fumes or noise, but this trailer looked like the bees knees, especially because the dog could duck down, totally out of the wind.

Here's a pic of my dog, Sophie, in my outfit. I got one of those back-braces that attach with velcro and used that instead of a harness to attach her to the hack. Seemed to work pretty well, but frankly I didn't feel all that comfortable with the dog in the sidecar even with that set-up. Also hard to get her in and out of the chair and lots of hair to clean up!

Yeah i believe you when you say your not comfortaable with the doggie in the chair! seems he's way to big for that SC...too top heavy.
lloks like she cant lay down if she wants to. try removing the seat and put a large pad on the floor.seat can be reattached using velcro.

You can't tell from that angle, but the chair was removed, and she could move about. Still, she's a little too big for the outfit, and since she has joint problem, her hacking days are probably over.

Ahhh, That last pic clears it up..
You could consider a small stool or step for her to get in and out.
something that could be hauled along in the front of the SC.
Also. a safety bar going across top edge of each side opening, with quick detach bolts and wingnuts. this would also make human passengers feel safer.
make her last years comfortable and pleasant :o)

On the basis that there is nothing we will not do for our beloved doggies, suggest looking for the Lift-top Motovation which allows the entire S/C body to lift up then pooch can easily climb on board or off. Easier for humans also.

Ah! I lovethis thread!... honestly, the only reason initially... as I was not aware of the addiction factor... I decided to get a Ural car for my GS to take Spirit with me on my camping trips... mostly primitive camping.
My hook up is simple as I have the front and rear Kenny rack... and a harness for him with a short snap on-off leash that I made out of webbing material

The doogles are a must... and Spirit loves them... you have to understand that this dog loves me! He will do anything I want him to do... and he is a blast of a American Pit Bull... when I go to work now... unfortunately he wants to go with me every day!
Will post more camping pictures soon...
Be well... Ara

Thanks for all the great ideas. I will have to start getting them used to doggles. Harnesses will be a must with Emma & Bella. Considering how much the love the car I can just imagine on the bikes.

The topic of goggles for doggies has just risen - and about time. Not only is it chic - but it is NOT cool for any dog, nor human, to have eyeballs exposed to the air. Not only is there a very real and present danger of getting dirt and debris or insects onto or into the eyeball or into the flap inside the eye which can be an irritant at least or cause a loss of sight at worst, but the wind on the eyeball causes the tear ducts to dry up and if this is continued can cause permanent damage.

This problem is moot if the pooch is protected by a large windscreen with directed airflow or in a ventilated enclosed sidecar.

I've been trying to figure this out. If successful, there will be a picture of Sidecar Rosie. If not, the Photobucket website. Here goes...
