I've got this 81 Kawsaki and it has 20,000 on it and I got it for $1.00, yep, a buck! Now, can I put a SC on it or is it a waste of time n money for a 30 mi., daily, oneway trip to work? Just looking for economy at 65mph
Thanks..."Cool".Or at gnpcool@yahoo.com

The short answer is sure! But if you are interested in economy in your commute, leave it solo. A sidecar will affect your fuel economy and not in a positive way. I'm trying to remember the rule of thumb I've seen posted on this site... My BMW RT went from 40MPG solo to an average of high 20s with a large sidecar. Of course, ymmv according to the sidecar you choose and how quickly you want to get to your cruising speed. A Texas sidecar might be a good fit for the K-Zed or maybe a velorex - you've got lots of choices to consider. Good luck!

oooh yep, it'lld rop. I'd say with a ahck on that bike you'll average 28 to 30mpg on teh highway. Removing the windshield of the hack will help, but not completely. I suggest Velorex 562, 565 or 700

I've got a Ural sidecar on my 98 Valkyrie. Under normal County road driving I can get close to 32, but on the Interstate loaded down it drops to 25. The worst I've done was driving into a 30 mph headwind with both windshields up I dropped it down to 19.

those are good numbers for a solo Valk!
Uncle Blastos Valk - Champion probably got about 22 on a good day. Thing just sucked the gas down, but was way fun to ride

The gas milage does suffer with a sidecar but it's still better than most cars, way more fun and more convenient than a solo

Actually it's not as bad as you might think. Without the sidecar, I was once able to make it from my home to my daughter's (234 miles) on a single 5.4 gallon tank! But it took 5.2 gallons to fill it when I got there. :0) I was running on fumes the last mile or so.

I have to confess that trip was about a 45 degree day with a light rain falling, so I was driving slower than normal and it was a perfect air/fuel mix day. I don't have the discipline to drive that way on a sunny day. :0)
Normally, on two wheels I'm good for about 41 on the backroads and maybe 35 on the slab. The trick is to keep it under about 4000rpm. Over that and them six little carbs get real thirsty.
