I've had my dog Taylor (100 lb Shepherd) riding in a Ural sidecar for a couple of years but have recently gotten concerned about his hearing and the noise of riding. He used to do a few short trip in the Ural occationally and I did not worry too much about his hearing. He always wears goggles and is harnessed in. I've recently attached the sidecar to a '99 Victory motorcycle and now commonly ride two or three hundred miles per weekend with this rig, dog by my side. This extended exposure to loud wind and motor noise concerns me. I bought the Mutt Muff earmuffs for dogs but am not convinced that they provide enough noise protection as they can not "seal" well due to fur and folds of skin etc...
Has anyone else who's dog rides extended periods seem to noticed any decline in the animals hearing? Perhaps I need to get a quiet BMW?

I haven't noticed any decline in Archie's hearing and he's been riding with me now for about four years. Of course the fact that he lays down at hiway speeds for the most part probably helps a bunch. He wears doggles and in cool weather a bomber jacket but nothing more.
