Sidecar Clubs?
Does anyone know of any sidecar clubs and or events in or around the Yuma, Arizona area excluding California???
Well Larry,
Do as I did! Start your own!
I found that I enjoyed the cameradire & riding when with other hack owners. But all the LOCAL groups that were out there were TWO WHEEL groups. So I started the Sidecars of New England Group at Yahoo. Known as SCONE by those who visit it often.
If you are up to this task, I think you will find it rewarding. No, it's not a way to make money, ya gotta do it just for the fun of it! If you think it's more work than you might want to take on, then share the task with another hack owner in your area.
I am sure there are more hacks in your area than you probably know. Just ask the question about who's interested in starting up a new club on an active Sidecar board like here or at Yahoo's SCT Group. You are sure to get replies. The SCofNE group grew by 30 members just by telling other Sidecar Enthusiests about it! We've started meeting for Sunday Breakfast once a month. We meet late in the morning (Thus we call it a Brunch) so those who have over a long ride to get there have the time beforehand to do just that. 11am on the First Sunday of each month. Membership will grow each year I am sure, but it will never grow to an un-managable size. That's what I love about being a hack owner. There aren't "too" many of us!
Just remember the Club Name has to be put out there so others know about it!
Good Luck & keep us informed!
Thanks for the suggestion and information Joe, no I don't think it's too much work, my wife and I really enjoy our sidecar and meeting new people, and making new friends is a plus.
money is really no object for us because of our love for freedom, freinds, and fresh-air takes number one with us, I work on computers and build them and I'm very good at what I do because I enjoy it.
as long as you enjoy what your doing a person will alway's do their best, our sidecar is our second love, and everything else that goes with it.
I will keep everyone informed of my progress, although it will be slow getting started for me because of my health and many trips to the hospital lately, but I'll try my best to see what I can get started in my area.
thanks again.
Larry,
If you decide to start a Yahoo site for the club feel free to come to our site and post what you are doing. We have over a thousand mambers and generate ,typically, over a thousand posts per month. It is a very active group with members all over the country and overseas too. There are probably quite a few that are close to you. Come join us and feel free to post your intentions..I am confident you will get responses.
See below for address:
Hi All, olyumabill here. In answer to yesterdays post by Larry, I want to let you know about a club forming here in Az. It is called Arizona Roadrunners Sidecar Club. It is open to ALL interested parties, with or without a sidecar. All that is needed is an interest in anything that has three wheels.( Maybe I should include 4 wheels as I saw a Goldwing here in Yuma with 4 wheels ) For now the contact address for the club is, olyumabill@aol.com or area code 928-342-6791 This will be a very informal club with no dues or officers. Just a method of getting a like minded group of people together to advance the cause of sidecarring. Thanking you in advance. Bill Cahill
Thanks Claude, I talked to a sidecar friend today here in Yuma and he already has a few ideas, so I'll try to get with him and see what his ideas are.
I know a few sidecar people here that I'll try to make contact with, I don't see that many sidecar's in this area, although I know there are a lot of people interested, I'm alway's getting offers to sale my setup, guess I'm in the wrong business, thanks for the message.
Larry.
Larry & Bill,
I suggest that you start a Yahoo Group with the Name of your club in the Description & an acronym or initials for the club's e-mail address (ARSC@yahoogroups.com) or something like that. (I tried to get SCONE, for the "SideCars of New England" group but some Scottie dog group beat me to it, so I got SCofNE)
The Yahoo group will give you an online meeting place for communication and scheduling. (Use the Calendar function.) AND since the SCT group that Claude posted earlier is so darn full of folks who ALREADY have a Yahoo group account & an interest in sidecars, it's a sure win to promote your group there. You'll find Claude (He's the Group owner) an avid supporter of your endeavor. He's also a good source for info for running your Yahoo Group. His group is very successful, so plagiarize it! (Don't tell him I said that! (grin))
Feel free to peak at my own group(s) as well.. I run several.
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/SCofNE/
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/KillingtonClassic/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/professionalpyrotechnicians/
My usernames are "SideCarPyro" & "JoeDiver95"
Anyway, act now & you will have a small, but enthusiastic group looking forward to meeting once a month for a meal, or planning a few group events for this coming summer.

But I promise to stay in my North East "corner" of the Country. I'll not copy you to the point of claiming THE WHOLE GALAXY!!! Hahaha!
Just don't make me stand here "facing" the corner, then I would feel like I did sumpin' bad!
Man...Don't stay up there all the time..I hope to see you at the ISOK Rally In July in Pa....mo detail to follow...
Claude
Kujo, Any progress here yet? Just wondering.
Joe
Hi Joe, olyumabill here. Yes, I have met with Larry and his wife Lena and we are trying to seek out any and all sidecar people we can find. I met a large group of trike owners this morning and got the word out. It will take some time but we will stay at it. The Arizona Roadrunners are up and running. Hope we will have more to report later. Bill
Did you start something on the web yet? That's where folks can find you easy & at their leisure.
Hi kujo, I live in Fort Mojave, AZ. (just South of Bullhead City) & I'm the 3rd member of the "Arizona Roadrunners Sidecar Club (invited by Bill Cahill himself)...where in AZ. are you? "SKULL"
Hello Skull, I live in the foothills of Yuma Arizona so we're really not too far apart, it's been awhile since I've been able to get into this site because of my work schedule. I work on computers and things have been real hectic, although things are starting to slow down some now so I have a little more time. I work for myself and run my own business so I can take off about anytime I want. I am planning a ride to wickenburg once it warms up some, and also a few day's trip to tombstone, I am alway's open for ideas though so I hope I can keep in contact with you.
I have a friend next door who went riding last week with a group here in Yuma, I guess they went on a 200 mile trip at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
I told him I don't want to get involved with any riders who lost their marbles, I ride because I enjoy it, I don't need to rush death, that will come soon enough.
when my wife and I go riding we normally stay the speed limit or less, my wife alway's rides in the sidecar and I think too much of her to take chances. please let me hear from you and I'll try to get in here more often, thanks for the message.
