Hello all, anyone out there have a reverse installed on a Heritage Springer? I've talked to a couple places I can have it installed, they say different exh. pipes, oil lines, just wondered how much someone paid & how they like it, thanks.

I just intalled the Champion kit on a Road King and I noticed in the instructions a special lever needs to be ordered for softial models and they do say the oil lines may have to be rerouted. I am very impressed with the quality and it works great. I paid $1395 directly from Champion.

I put one on my '95 Turbo Road King. They shipped me the wrong lever and I burnt my hand every time I used it. It got very little use and was a poor investment due to that fact. I only meeded to use it twice in three years and that was in situations where I could just as easily have gotten off the bike and pushed the rig backwards.
Forget the 3 hour installation estimate if you have a hack on the bike already. Maybe with the tranny on a bench to start with.

I'm sure they are well made and, as far as prices go, $1,395 is probably in the ball park for a reverse. Having said that, I've ridden quite a bit with both a Harley Shovelhead and an Evolution with A TLE sidecar and I never felt like I really needed a reverse.

Sure, there might have beeen situations where it would have been nice. I simply found it was just as easy when parking to plan my exit ahead so that I wouldn't need to back up.

We find that depending on the exaust system the reverse can be installed in as little as 1 hour and can take as much as 4 hours of acutal working time. But this is being done by a master mechanic with over 20 years working on flat rate. We charge a flat $300 to install the unit.
We also have a reverse gear due out in spring that is engine driven but does not require the transmission to be taken apart. The new unit takes under an hours to install and requires no special tools. It will work on both the 5 speed and 6 speed bikes.
At this time we sell the Champion unit for $1395.

I've thought about it alot & agree with gnm109, I have had alot of side cars & never had a reverse yet, gettin' old & got a bum leg but if I have to I'll get off & push it back, havin' a bum leg, I always "plan my departure upon my arrival", if I paid someone else to install a reverse, it would be about $3000.00, with labor, reverse kit, and the exh. pipes cost $800.00 nuff said, thanks for the input.
