Looking for some suggestions on a FM radio/intercom so I can talk to my son in the sidecar and listen to music when not talking. I figure a voice-activated mic won’t work (push to talk would be better). Not willing to pay for top end unit but realize a cheap unit won’t work right (something in the mid cost range).

I wondered if those Motorola Talkabouts could be adapted.

Well, leave to me to ask question that nobody has any thoughts about or words of wisdom for.

Motorcycle Consumer News had a review on intercom/radio stuff not too long ago. If you have a buddy who hoards them, that would be a great place to start. Autocom and Baehr are high end solutions. Chatterbox is towards the low end There is also Collet. Bazillions of choices out there. Lots of research to do. good luck!

I should have added that I have been looking for a solution where I could listen to my music, my daughter could listen to hers, but we could still talk when we needed to. Haven't found that soulution yet - we still use hand signals!
