That offset hitch looks interesting, I'd like to see how it holds up in the long run. How heavy is the trailer you pull with it?
I pull an Aspen camper with my Roadglide+Hannigan hack, and it would be nice to make the whole unit a little narrower.

I run a champion legend with the hitch of the inside rail of the frame. Pulls nicely. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1930918479655&l=6e7398090b http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1930908919416&l=7784bea70b

I pull a loaded Bunkhouse behind a Gl1500/ California Friendship 3. Usually solo but sometimes with a passenger. So far, I've only pulled it a couple test rides, one about 20 miles and the second around 50. No problems thus far. It handles well, I don't have any weird pulling or control issues. Even practised a few hard stoppies from 60 mph.

I'm not sure if you can tell from the photos, but the piece that slips into the bike is a solid bar and the cross piece is heavy walled tubing.

Sounds stout! I think I will go with a brace to the sidecar frame, there is a convenient spot on the Hannigan frame for it. Probably overkill, but better too be stronger than it needs than not strong enough.

If you go to my album "2008 Motorvation Formula II on a 99 HD FLHT" here you will see some pictures of the receiver hitch attached to the frame of my sidecar. It works for me.

Here's how I added a receiver to my Hannigan frame:

I like the look of that setup. What kind of trailer do you tow with it?

Bobmws,

Are one of the trailer wheels in line with the bike or sidecar wheel?

I'm pulling a Bunkhouse pop-up camper, wide long & heavy!
The left trailer wheel is inline with the bike tire.
We just finished a 3000 mile trip to the BMWMOA in Sedalia, MO., handled great on the slab and in the Arkansas twisties. A little additional push & pull, but not excessive. Note, I've pulled a trailer for tens of thousands of miles on solo bikes.
We had the larger windshield on the car so the top could be installed in case of rain. Averaged 28 mpg for the trip, running at 72 mph on the slab, and mostly at posted speeds in the twisties & 2 lane roads.
FUN!
