Hello Sidecar.com and users,

I know this probably isn't the correct place to put my questionnaire in your Forum, but I had trouble finding the right destination for it - I hope its okay.

I am a danish bachelor thesis student in Global Business Development from Denmark. For my bachelor thesis I am doing a project about analyzing and assessing the German motorcycle market in a market development context. Therefore I would love if you would help me with my project by spending 3 min answering my questionnaire. The questionnaire is informal but the result will only be used under full disclosure.

Link to my questionnaire, which is written in German:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1RXy7L42YC5CUuvpRPNs8-66RccagsuQCBhqpefKlwdY/viewform?usp=send_form

I appreciate all your effort, thanks a lot.

Thanks again
- Morten Pedersen

Hello Morton,
at the question about the additional equipment you have 2 times navigation equipment.
With brands you are very narrow and specially with classic bikes there is a WAY bigger selection.
Small tip, specially as this is part of your (partially) final degree in University double read, double check with somebody else out of the area before publishing and do not commit mistakes.
As I reed in "between the lines" with just one fast overview, you come from economics and make the standard business administrator questions, riding motorcycle and much more pushing a rig is a philosophy and form of life type of thing...try to put that in your questionnaire so the persons you ask will feel attracted and think "ok that is somebody who knows about us motorcyclists and understands what we talk and think.
World wide business school, then don't mention only " A " few European brands and leave out the famous European and international brands. Here were I live Chineese brands have over run in quantity on the road all traditional brands, and "once" exotic brands like Ducati and Triumpf are commonly used by middle and high class persons.(or want to be appear so persons)

27 years ago I committed my own serious mistakes which destroyed my career in Germany. worst one in a factory meeting with 450 employees: "Mr Technical General Manager, your proposal is very good to install this excellent administration tool, but you forgot to mention .....aspects!....."
3 days later got a dismiss letter, 2 month later all colleagues who had blamed me before came to me saying I was right, 8 years later the general manager got dismissed himself AND sewed in court.
Suddenly all information needed for my final work for the engineer's degree disappeared...

Don't take personal my rumbling, but a hit between the eye brows at time has done well to more then one person I know of , including me myself...
More perhaps later.
Sven

Roadking from Soviet Steeds forum wrote this last week, fits to my rumbling which possibly is a note too tough, ...I mean it in a good manner, not at all to put you down:
Quote:
"Many years in business has taught me that your best customer is the one who complains. The one who tells you when your product or service stinks. The reason being, they are giving you an opportunity to improve and letting you know specifically what needs improvement.

Most people will not complain, but rather not buy again, and tell 10 people who will tell 10 more people that your product stinks.

Yes, it may hurt to hear it, but only if you take it as an insult instead of constructive criticism regardless of how the message is delivered.

Therefore, I would think the folks at Ural would love hearing from us, especially when we point out the warts.

Finally, if I was selling a product for 75 years with minimal R&D for a premium price, I wouldn't care what you call it, as long as you kept buying."
End of quote.

My father taught me: "You have money, or you do not have it, but you never talk about it."

At Kiel WAK our marketing professor was the first who brought over to Germany the American way of leading business and I had my fights with him. After 25 years running my own shop I continue to believe that our traditional Westeuropean Patriarchic Family Business Leading System based on moral principles is much more long living and stable, perhaps not that monetarily efficient in short term, but there is more about traditions and philosophy then the fast buck.
Meanwhile in the last 25 years I have seen too many jobs destroyed by MBAs. (BTW I admire Maersk, stubborn old man to whom I pull my hat)(best definition for MBA I heard from an MBA himself: Mas bruto que antes, More brute then before)

I hope You can visualize the attached texts (open office). They are roughly translated and extremely resumed but hopefully good for something.
God bless you and I wish you luck with studies.

And now I will take my time to fill out your questionnaire...would be good and fast to do to translate it into English.

Farewell.
Sven

I submitted my response and feel that are missing the options to mention if you live in an EU or other foreign country (I put the land where I grew up), and a change for those who do not want/can mention their income.... to respond anyway. Missing too for people who own several bikes to select the different types... miss options sidecar rig for street, double purpose, adventure tourer, off road.
Accesories; seperate sidecar and trailer, In USA a beverage holder is important to quite a lot of people as well as intercom, phone, radio and CD player and others like winch....

There are several other small hick ups I cannot recall for now as an old client needs my attention.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and the purpose of your field study, we had several students here in the forum who did receive quite a bit of help.

Note to all other fellows here on the forum: Excuse my tone, but a good early head wash helps for to form a good professional....I speek out of founded experience...Don't ask how my ears were ringing for days after the head wash from the boss of GTZ (Gesellschaft fuer technische Zusammenarbeit = German AID equivilant) in Costa Rica (Hermann Hesse?) back in 1989....Damn, it worked out great... Still roll up my sleeves daily with the attitude: " you make something well done, or you do not achieve anything."

So long
Sven

I started filling out the questionnaire - then found that if I don't live in Germany I could go no farther! Really limits the questionnaire info as I believe there are more motorcycle riders outside Germany than inside.
