For those that may have some interest in the Autos, Bikes, Sidecars and Quads here is a link to the primary sponsor that will be covering the Pikes Peak Race on July 20, 2008.
There is also some coverage tonight at the local street gathering or Fan Fest.

For many years the race wasn't broadcast and it was almost canceled due to lack of interest and major sponsorship but seems to have made a comeback for the next couple of years pending total pavement at which time it may have lost it's primary interest for many of the big names and be lost to time.

In any case you have an opertunity to watch or listen to what may be one of the final races to the clouds with 6 Hack's thrown into the mix too.

Word from some of the Drivers and Riders this afternoon was that conditions weren't good for record setting, poor traction etc. So that could result in some unexpected winners in some of the classes. 😉

There is a French team here with a very pretty lady in the Chair. Can you say a Female Monkey without getting a slap in the face or a law-suit. 😉

While their web site is in French there are enough pics for most to get a good idea of what they have done and are doing.

Note from the desk of:
Mike Moran, Director of Communications
The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation
www.thesportscorp.org

"A French team will be among the entries with an unlimited sidecar using a Choda Kawasaki engine. Marlin Bruno will pilot and Jeanfemange Sylvie will be hanging on as the all-important passenger. They will be aiming to break the sidecar record set by the flamboyant team from Sweden in 2005 of 13:17.16. Five other sidecar teams are entered but their "hacks" will be the smaller engine machines commonly used for cross-country racing. The "monkeys" or passengers have the important job of shifting their weight for balance and traction that is entertaining to see."

Here's a link to some pics of Bruno & Sylvie doing practice runs up Pikes Peak.
