Passenger Cover for HD Sidecar
I am a new member to the forum and hope I can tap into your experiance.
I have a 2007 HD Ultra, with a 2007 HD Sidecar to match.
My 4 year olds ride with me(side by side). This has not been an issue until recently(after 2 years of riding) one of my 4 year olds has decided she does not like the wind. My kids both wear full face helmets and I have a windshield on the chair so I am running out of options on how to protect her from the wind.
What I really need is some kind of cover(either soft or hard) that I can add that will protect the sidecar passenger from the elements. Has anyone seen this type of cover and if so where can I buy one?
Thanks
Good luck, there are alot of smart expeienced people on this site, so u will being getting alot of advice. I have a 03 ulta with hd sidecar and my wife hated one of the full face helmet I had cuz the wind would cut thru the shield and get in her ear. I bought a different helmet and solve that. We were riding my grandson at 10 months in my wife's lap{ local} but decided to get a 2 person sidecar. We found a Goldwing with a Hannigan 2+2 sidecar. Fully enclosed with a/c and with a carseat my wife and grandson love it. I like both setups but my wife always picks the hannigan. I have looked for a setup like u want since 03 at bike week at Mrytle Beach etc and only seen them on Hannigans,Liberty etc.
Welcome to the forum, I wish I had found this site along time ago...Great info
Have you asked around at upholstery shops concerning having a convertible top made for it?
It's a motorcycle. There's no escaping the wind unless you have a fully enclosed car. Lap robes just ain't gonna cut it. I've got a knee length sherling (sheepskin) bomber coat my passengers can borrow in winter and a convertible top on my Hannigan Classic. Good sheepskin coats aren't cheap unless you get lucky on Ebay. They'll keep you warm but thay won't get you out of the wind.
Maybe the little girl just doesn't want to ride anymore. Kids change their minds without good reasons sometimes. Given enough time they'll find a reason to justify the change of mind too! It'll always be something.
You may want to head by a boat shop and ask if they have someone who makes boat covers and trailer covers. That person may be able to look over your rig and see if there is some type of cover than can easily be made to fit your specific needs. If you contact Rich Maund, he makes all sorts of covers for Urals. He may know of someone or someting that can help in your situation as well. Not sure if a hack door would help, as I don't know which side your child sits on when riding. It does help on some Urals though. You may swap sides with the child to see if that is of any help.
I have been thinking of some ideas for a "semi-lap robe" in my Ural for the hack monkey (adult or child) in the winter time. They make specific electric blankets for truck bunks. They are called 12 volt Electro Warmth bunk warmers. They are a tad large for the Ural hack to a degree, and I have never seen any in use to this date on a sidecar rig. The prices are very reasonable for a good sized one, and I have been thinking that this may also help cut the wind problem, as the kiddo can snuggle under it or pull it up as they desired. An adult could pull it up as desired and wrap it about themselves and a child, as necessary. They run under 90 bucks for the various sizes. They may not work at all, but I have thought of giving such a try. There may be other truck suppliers who have cheaper accessories than this one, but this just happened to be a vendor who had sent me a catalog where I had seen the product.

go to the link and check the view catalog area. Scroll on left of page to bunk warmer 33. That will show what I am speaking of. Lots of sizes to choose from on the page. Prices did increase since I got my catalog, but still reasonable.
You may also check out JC Whitney at their RV area there. I am told they have 12 volt electric blankets that may work as well.
Good luck and let us know what worked for you.
