Hi Folks,

Some of us are having a ride in mid-September, called the "North by NorthWest Ride". Last year it was Triumphs and Nortons, and this year I am riding it on my XS650 with the sidecar. We have at least one other sidecar bike participating, and if enough people are interested, we could add a "sidecar section" and not even worry about trying to stay with the solo bikes. It's a small event, and we will have a few ride options, to avoid our Western Washington rain. (Last year out on the peninsula it was very wet!)

We are thinking of the weekend of September 20 and 21, riding 100 or 200 miles, and camping, although we will try to be fairly near motel/resort accomodations for those who don't want to camp out.

Anyone in the British Columbia/Washington/Oregon/Idaho region interested? Hopefully there will be a few British bikes, as well as a couple of sidecars, and really, anyone else who is interested.

Please PM me if you think you might be interested. If last year was an example, it's going to be a ton of fun!

The Oyster Run (back when it was a run) was traditionally on the first weekend of October. After it turned into a street fair in Anacortes, WA
it was on the last weekend in September to beat the weather. Has it changed again this year to the third weekend in September?

Inquiring minds need to know.

Hi Barb,
I'll be there, and if I have to run a few oysters, so be it!

Hi Barb,
It's a definite maybe. As long as it doesn't fall the same week end as the UMCI Freeze Out. Which usually falls on the same week end as the Oyster Run. Which is why I've yet to make the Oyster Run.
Sonny- your profile says McMinnville. TN. Should it say OR instead?

Reardon Tom,
Nope, Tennessee it is, but I was aware that there is one in Oregon as well. I get asked that often.

Hi Guys,

I checked, and as far as I can tell, the Oyster Run is on Sunday, September 28th, the week after the NxNW Ride. (And the day before my birthday....sob!) I really love riding the Oyster run, by the way, and would change the date of the NxNW Ride if necessary.

Anyway, please think about the NxNW Ride. Camping and riding with sidecars is really fun, and besides, I need to see some of the "right" ways to do things like attachments and electrics....

That's way cool that you'll come that far for a ride in the great NW!

Hi All,
As I'm typing this, Barb, who first conceived having this run, is riding to Oregon, on her outfit, for a visit of several days. What I can tell you is that the tentative dates are September 19, 20, 21. AS to actual routes or destinations, your guess is as good as mine. It will involve a couple of nights of camping for those who like that sort of thing, and I suspect there might be a campfire and the occasional beer being sipped. I'm sure more details will be forthcoming shortly after Barb returns home.

Hi Tom,
I try to get in a couple of sizable rides each year, and it doesn't take much to put me on the road.
Mid June I rode, sans the sidecar, with a group of folks from around here to Maine for a fresh Lobster dinner . . .9 days and 3600 miles with lots of sight seeing thrown in. We used Laconia Bike week as the excuse that would keep us from being sent to the funny farm, but only 3 of the 10 participants actually made it to the Bike Week site for an afternoon.
Last year Barb, a dear, dear friend, came up with the idea of the NxNW ride and asked if I'd be interested . . . well, heck yeah! I have three sons who live in Southern California, and I will swing down there to visit them after the ride, then home, possibly via Texas where I have an elderly sister who lives near Austin. I'm retired (11 years), camp in the cheapest places I can find, eat a lot of baloney sandwiches, and try to live as frugally as possible when on the road . . . well, unless there's a Lobster dinner to be had.
