Hello all. I am a new member of the forum and about to be new to sidecars. I am a Brit bike enthusiast and a log time rider of Brit iron and other bikes.
My wife and I each own '03 Triumph Bonneville T100's. Physically, she can no longer ride solo and that doesn't like like it will improve. We have been looking a trike rigs and hacks. Both us us have decided to go for a hack and we are currently doing our research on various makes. We want to retain a retro, Brit look.
There is a lot of good information here and I have learned a lot already.

Hi Carl,
Be sure to keep us updated when you get your new rig! And don't forget pics!
nice looking TR6. My brother had a 1968 TR6 and I had a bonneyivlle. one of the many reasons I got interested in sidecars was because my brother was in a car accident and is now a quadriplegic. we hope to be able to take him riding again.
Thanks, Kural. I will post the pics when we get our new toy.
Thanks Keith. My first Triumph was a used '61 Bonnie and my first new Triumph was a '66 TR6. I never got over that ride. Sweet bike and it didn't leak oil!! Must not have been a Triumph. 🙂 Anyway, I ridden vertical twins ever since.
I'm sorry to hear about your brother's injury. That is a great motivation for a hack.
Talk to Claude, the body style of his sidecars looks great on a limey bike, I think, I'm sure he can send a pic
Thank you or the tip. I will check with him.
I have '71 BSA A65T.
Maybe I should hook up my first sidecar (Velorex 562) to BSA..
I was thinking of using '75 CB750K.
David, I checked the photgraphs on Claude's website. His cars do look good. For my tastes, they are not quite retro enough for me. I think I have narrowed my quest down to a Velorex 562 or a Motorvation Spyder. After looking at the photos of Flip's rig on his '03 Bonnie T100, I am leaning heavily toward the Spyder. Flip's setup looks outstanding and is definitely retro with modern technology. I have also been communicating with a person I ride with once or twice a year in NC. He has an 02 Bonnie with a Spyder. I have never seen his rig; he has it detached when riding solo in the twisties. Based on his and Flips input and guidance and the retro looks, I am strongly considering the Spyder; but I'm still open to other makes.
I have a Motorvation Spyder on my Heritage Springer, I love it, Motorvation has the BEST customer service, they installed my hack last year on my way to Sturgis, Sibley Iowa real small town, I think all they make is sidecars trailers and CORN, great mexican resturant right across the street from Motorvation, good luck!!!
Carl,
Thanks for the complimant on our Freedom Cruiser:-)
The pics on the site are of our prototype and we technically have not 'gone live' with it just yet. The pics on the site show a standard 12" wheel. There will be an option with a 19" wire wheel that does give it a totally different and more 'retro' or British look. Brooklands as well as conventional windscreens will also be offered.
Note that we are located in Central Pa. and are also a rep for Motorvation. And yes that spyder would look great on your bike also.
We do have an experienced sidecarists as a rep starting up in North Carolina which would be even closer to you.
Another sidecar that looks very good on a brit bike is th eWatsonian GP...Google Sidestrider.com. It is Doug Bingham's site. Say hello to Doug for me if you talk to him.
Feel free to contact us if we can help in any way.
Thanks, David.
Claude, thanks for the information and I got your emails. I will be replying to you this evening. The rep in NC sounds really good - and a heck of a lot closer!! Can this rep do the install? I have no shop and few tools where I live.
I did call and talk with Doug about both the Watsonian GP and the Velorex 562. I love the looks of the Watsonian; but it is a little pricey. I think we have ruled out the Velorex in favor of the Spyder. I will be in contact with you shortly.
