newbie questions 2
my spokes got all loose on my mc rear wheel. i replaced the spoke wheels with cast mags as i don't want to deal with that anymore even though the spokes were a $600 option that i didn't want when i bought the bike new.now i can run tubeless tires and carry a can of fix-a-flat. i like that option and no tubes. speaking of tires- i have noticed that i am wearing in the middle only so i have thought of using a flat tire like a car tire but i have read in these posts not to do that. also as stated in last post i am only running the mc brake. is this ok? or will trying to hook-up the sc brake again be of any significance? thx for the replies my friends. oh and once again- how fast do you all ride like on the interstates?
The Harley cars work quite well with their linked brake. One of the few linked systems that I have used that seemed well balanced. With the wide outfit and heavy car, I would say "Hook it up".
There must be someone in your area that has a pressure bleeder. It can sometimes be a chore to do it without one, but it is do-able.
With a stock Harley rig, the difference between driving 65 or 75 on the Slab is about 10 miles per gallon of gas due to wind resistance.
My latest Stage II Evo rig would get about 40 mpg at 65 and around 30+ at 75.
Pulling mountain passes it could drop to under 55 mph unless shifted into 4th. Problem there was when the speed went up, the mpg dropped to around 30 mpg again.
I added a Tour Tank for more range in remote areas with limited gas outlets.
Handling at speed was never a problem.
FYI: Liberty's 5 degree trees made a world of difference in ease of handling, especially in the twisties. Just like power steering.
