My sidecar frame is new enough that Harley no longer included the step support tube. But at the same time it is old enough that the frame casting still had the opening for the support. The tube is an odd creation that has 2 different diameters and multiple bends. Not something easily made in garage, and this was never a separately available part number from HD.

The step support tube had been hacksawed off some other frame at some point. To re-attach, I figured a solid slug with the appropriate diameters on each end would get it there. What I'm not certain of, is why the tube wouldn't simply slide in the frame hole as it sat. Only thing I can figure is since  the hole was never intended to be used on this frame, it didn't get a final fitting bore to accept a tube. Anyhow, it looks like this will do the trick, once I fasten everything in place.
