new guys Hi.
I HAVE A 05 HARLEY Springer CUSTOM CLASSIC that I was thinking about putting a SC on. So, I go to the source of knowledge of all things SC, (that would be you guys).. What if anything should I get. I mean what company. It has to be in the same style as the bike of course. Mostly wife on back and dog in sc. Thanks Dan
Make sure that what ever sidecar you go with is strong and heavy enough for your bike. Make sure that it has real bike specific mounts not "universal" mounts. Most of the made in the USA sidecar companies sidecars will be strong enough and come with bike specific mounts. When ever you add a sidecar to a bike you end up with heavy steering. To lower the steering effort you need to move the front wheel forward. The best way to do this is to change out the front end as the springer front end is not really all that good of a front end however as I suspect that part of the reason you purchased this bike is you really like the look of the front end it can be modified to work. What we do is cut the rocker into 3 parts and splice into it spacers to make it longer. We do this on a welding jig to keep it from warping however when this is done the strut that holds the rear of the fender wheel have to had about an inch spliced into it which of course requires repainting it.
We have many sidecars that will work with your bike. By far the most popular are the M72C and the M72CX.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Dan, someone with more sidecar experience than me needs to have a little discussion with you about weight distribution. You will have one heck of a time keeping your wife on the bike and the dog in the sidecar. The balance is such that right turns are almost impossible under those conditions.
Unless your pooch is bigger than your wife, carry lots of ballast in the rear of your sidecar to keep from capsizing the rig in right turns.
