It,s that time of year again and I was debating with myself if I wanted to renew my membership with the USCA, you see I live in British Columbia Canada and there is not a lot of sidecarist around my neck of the woods, the Magazine the sidecarist is mostly if not all about things happening in far away places in the USA. so with the November-December issue in my hand, I once again am reading about rides and events happening in far away places as I look out my window and the snow is falling, take two more capsules of cod liver oil to ward off the winter blues. Started to read the Brass Monkey story and it is a place I have always wanted to go, great story and thank you Sidecar Susie. I did take the Harley sportster adventure rig to death valley in sept of this year and enjoyed that, wrote a ride report for ADVrider but did not submit here. Then I got thinking, If I would like to see more Canadian content in the sidecarist Magazine then I need to step up to the plate and start writing and sending pictures. Went on the website and the information here is huge and well worth supporting with my dues. So the long and the short of it is my Dues have being sent and my New Years resolution is to start contributing to the sidecarist about the places I ride here in the Interior of BC Canada. I am all for more ride reports from Canada.

I have had my GS rig from Dyea:

To Newfdoundland and Labrador:

and I too have only posted in ADV but I will start putting more in this site. Not sure I will get to the Sidecarist but I suppose I could get brave and write something up and see if it makes it. I am much better at pictures then the written word.

Robert:
You have much to write about and things that are worthy of pictures in B.C. My brother Harold and I rode to Alaska in 2004. I rode my K1100/Motorvation and he rode a Vstrom. (It took him a couple more years to find his 85 K100RS/EML rig) We spent a few days going and coming in B.C. We rode the Casiar coming home. That was quite an experience. I kept a log of what we saw and what we did and sent it in to the Sidecarist in 2005. It took a year of issues to get it all in. It may be archived somewhere under "Harold and Will's big adventure. It was my first time to be published so I needed the help of two English teachers that I worked with. The rest is history. I have been published several more times and if you watch the next Sidecarist (or maybe the next) there will be another article that I wrote. The current Sidecarist has an article that Harold wrote. Incidently - Harold and I are co-hosting the National Rally in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Click on the Rally link on the home page of the Sidecarist and follow it to the page of details as we know it up until now.
Anyway you made the right decision to re-up your membership now take some pictures and send them in to the Sidecarist. Incidently - there are choice few members in South Dakota and I have yet to meet most of them. There may be more sidecarists out there but they aren't members -Yet.

As I'm in Portland, OR, I would really enjoying reading about British Columbia - things to do and see, etc.

I have taken to Alaskan Ferries from Belligham to Skagway ( Dyea )
and back to Prince Rupert.
Then by the "Skeena" to Jasper and The Canadian across Canada to Toronto and a flight home to Connecticut from there.
I dearly wish that I had my Trusty BMW / EML rig with me on that trip.

I would love to see some stories about the above trips with sidecars.

I am planning for the Rally in June then up to Glacier National Park and the "Highway to the sun".

Hi Diverdown, Were you at the Bigfoot Rendezvous in August 2013? It was at Toad Rock motorcycle campground in southern BC. A great rally!! And a fantastic area to ride in. There was an article in the Sidecarist not too long afterward with plenty of photos. The articles and photos are only as good as the people who write and send stuff in for publication. Your articles and photos would be very welcome!!

Hello Robert / Diverdown,
Imagine there are only 2 active rig pushers in our country, the 3rd one went back to Canada early this year. (about 12 rigs in the whole country, met one kid who has a R60/Steib. 30km in 3 years!)
So You can imagine it is a bit frustrating.
But this forum has been a great motivation for me, so here I am the only USCA member in our country.
Still fun...

Hello Don,
here you have our ride report with the rig, Oregon, Alaska, Oregon, 12.000km, 8 weeks.

To all, have a nice slide into the new year and keep the rubber down...
Kardan und Kettenbruch...better not.
Sven
