Light at the end of the tunnel?
After being a forum member for 3.5 years, one abortive start with a sidecar (bought a tug, had to sell it when we moved) and "the great recession" lowering my purchasing power - I recently bought an old airhead beemer in great shape at a really great price and just (last night) picked up a nice Velorex 563 from craigslist. I had searched for months looking as far away as a 400 mile search radius and found the bike within 20 miles and velorex within 100 miles of where I live.
Now the only problem is that I'm recovering from rotator cuff surgery and have at least six more weeks before I can work on putting the rig together 🙁
Gonna be a long six weeks and a short riding season after I'm on the road BUT we've got a sidecar now! Soon I'll be able to ride, take my wife along and not worry that she'll fall off the back when she falls asleep (she always does)!!! Yee-HAW!
Good on ya Dave.
Hellove price on that 563. It didn't languish on Craig's very long. Third bike, that one's gotten around. I sold a V65 Magna 2 weeks ago on the list. First call came within 15 minutes of ad conformation. In 2 hours the bike was loaded and gone. Good stuff goes fast if it's priced right.
I had the right shoulder surgury 3 1/2 years ago. I just found out how long ago it was yesterday when I went in for a cortisone shot so we can make our 50th Anniversary trip next week. I'll be needing that shoulder a lot in the backroads of Alberta and the Rockies with my favorite monkey (and her stuff) in the hack.
I cheated a bit on my 6 weeks, back in the shop on 3, but careful, no heavy lifting or reefing on the wrenches.
Good luck with it,
Lonnie
Yeah - it didn't last long. The seller didn't have a lot of luck selling the rig. I thought the triumph/velorex rig was nicely priced at $7k but it was out of my range. I was real happy when he decided to split the rig and sold the hack at such a good price.
