Leaner vs Rigid

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and to sidecars in general. Over the past few years I've read a decent amount online, but have yet to even see a functional sidecar in person. I did however buy an old sidecar off a local buy&sell website. At the time, I knew nothing (still don't know much) and wrote the purchase off as research/education. The guy who sold it had never used it and told me it was a Harley, in hindsight it turns out he knew even less than me. I've done a lot of web surfing looking for anything that looks similar, but it was only yesterday I found a picture of what I had bought. It's a Equalean! Now that I know what it is, my next issue is what to do with it. I found a couple pictures of functional Equaleans last night and the two that stand out are completely different setups. One is installed as it was meant to be, the other seems to have a rigid frame. I initially wanted a rigid to be able to extend my season a little (I live in Canada), as well as spend more time with my five year old. Now that I know what I have, I'm wavering both ways. I am fortunate enough to have a father who is a mechanic and a brother who is a welder, so fabrication shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'm looking for a little input or wisdom on which way some of you would go.

Below are the two setups I mentioned.

Thanks,
Kevin
