Can anybody tell me where I can find or what company makes kid size helmets? I want to get my kids a helmet (or 2) so they can ride in my sidecar. Their headsize is around 18". Haven't been able to find any sources that go that small, but I know other owners must have found some for their kids. Any help is appreciated.

Thanx.

It's hard to imagine that Parts Unlimited wouldn't have a maker that has XS and kid sizes. What PU doesn't have, Tucker Rocky should. They're probably the biggest distributors, but you have to order through a dealer.
I doubt you'll find any for toddlers, though. Fit is important, of couse, but Googling "childrens helmets" or some such should bring up some big on-line distributors. There are others, too, like Helmet House, Marshalls, etc.

You might want to try

http://www.familymotorcycling.com/index.htm

They specialize in motorcycling gear for children. Feel free to mention my name (Sidecar Ron).

i have a 2 year old that rides in my hannigan, she has a childrens size xs bell motocross helmet. it fits her very well. she is a small kid probably 28 pounds?? the helmet is dot approved and is very light. how ever, i have found that she sometimes has alot of head movement due to the forces of braking and acceleration and yes, sloppy shifting. i am considering a neck roll like a race driver has to help her little neck. they sell them for jr. dragster pilots in the summit racing catalog. parts unlimited also was where i got the helmet. they have the neck rolls but i am not sure about jr. sizes.
i have searched extensively for small size helmets because i have a 9 month old daughter and would like to bring her occasionally (when she is over 1 1/2 yrs. old)so i am looking also with little luck. most helmets are too heavy or dont fit well on the youngsters. it seems the best place to check is where there is kids off road gear.
best wishes, tommy.

p.s. after alot of checking, the info i got on taking very young children is for sure a NO under 1 year old due to the brain development/ vibration /shaking and such. this also goes for bicycle trailers. --oops,i hope my 2 year old kid will be ok-------

Talk to any HJC dealer. HJC has a full line of street and motoX helmets for kids. I bought an XXS open face a few years ago and they had two smaller sizes.
