I bought a Armec sidecar in Raleigh and need to have it installed on a BMW R1100R that already has a Leading Link front end and a sidecar subframe from Leading Link.... I don't know if it is a simple job..or what is really involved as I have not seen the Armec Tremola 1 sidecar or what mounts that come with it...it was mounted to a R1200R...

If someone in Raleigh or close by could help me I sure would appreciate it... (I am willing to pay)...

Thanks

A good place to start is with two books from the link below.

Hi Joel,

in Monroe/NC just 147 miles away from Raleigh/NC (shortest route) there is the Trike & Sidecar Specialist Doug McCracken with his Dealer and Installer Company >A Wing And A Chair<. You may contact him for installation help. His website is :

http://www.awingandachair.com/

He is also certified installer for Eurowing (ELM Netherlands) sidecars and conversions. My GL 1800 sidehack is also made by EML with the comfortable ExtensoDive front fork with a 165/65R14 tyre mounted on an EML manufactured 14” front wheel assembly.

Good luck !

hello Joel,
I was looking at the same sidecar last week on ebay
It was mounted on bmw r1200 c .frame I call armec.ch in Europe to find out if it could be mounted on my BMW 2005 ?

dautless motors may have some mount and rear wheel upgrade and steering dampeners to help you with your project.
but you will need someone in NC to help you with.could be done but quiet involve.

ps; if you find this to EXTENSIF I will consider buying the sicar from you as I am 125 miles from RDU.
good luck J.C

You may want to contact Bob Davis he is in N.C.. Bob is the USCA paraphenalia guy but also does some sidecar installs and such. Never hurts to check.

Thanks.... and I have been talking to Bob as he is the NC state rep.... and he agreed to install it... I am thrilled !! Now I won't have to worry...I know it will be perfect..

The bike I bought was in service as a sidecar hauler...it's a 1995 BMW R1100R that already has a Unit Leading link front end.... and a Unit sub-frame already on it...so it may not be that much work to install it.... but it could... surely Bob will get er done right... could not have found a better installer...
Plus the guy that I bought the bike from will deliver it to Bob...(I think).... all I need do now is find someone to move the sidecar from Raleigh to Bob...(near Charlotte)
about 185 miles.... probably use some sort of moving company..

This is working out really kool.... I will be able to fly out this summer...pick up the rig and take a month or more riding home to California...what a fun trip.
Years ago I rode a R90/6 velorex rig back from Georgia (I still have it) and had a super time..camping and visiting museums...what a trip. (like Far-Out Man) Yes I am an old 60's child of that era... retired teacher... Will do something for the Magazine when I get home...

Once you get some shipping quotes, post them, if their over 300 bucks I believe I could do it cheaper using my 4x8 trailer. I hauled my Hitchhiker in it with no problems, just need to know the overall width of the one you bought.

Just click my name, email in my profile. Would need to know how soon you want this done and contact info of all parties involved. I'll also email you my cell number so we can talk price.

I believe I could do it in one day as long as Bob don't mind waiting. Be nice to meet him anyways as he's only about 1 1/2 hr drive from me.

Email sent with number and real first name.

Here's a pic of the trailer I use with my Wing on it when I serviced the rear hub and replace the rear tire. It's a real nice homemade tilt bed 4x8 with a folding down ramp/gate.

Here's a shot of the front wheel chock.

You have a false first name ??

My first "real" name was Joel....then it changed to Chief...I always liked that one the best...

If you could get some help to lift it, I think it would fit in the back of a pick-up truck....probably weighs 250 pounds or so...

I hauled my Hitchhiker home from Georgia and it was a pain to load even with 3 other people helping. My truck is a 2001 Ford Ranger standard cab with a toolbox mounted behind the cab so I'll use the trailer to haul your's as it's body is longer than my Hitchhiker. Even though my Hitchhiker is shorter I still had to leave the tailgate down to get it home. I'll feel better with yours on the trailer.

I've already plotted the trip on my mapping software and will fine tune it once you send me the sellers address.

Ok, all arrangements have been made for pickup on Sunday. Now as long as the roads are clear in North Carolina by Sunday morning it'll get done.
