In Atlanta area, would you help mount a new URAL on a 1100GS???
OK... I know that you are also reading this Jay (I'll call you this am by the way). Will be ordering a new URAL for my 1100GS, I am fairly mechanically inclined but totally new to this set up. (Yes... I will be reading books on handling and taking a course). Unfortunately I cannot ride right now to Dauntless... sometimes this thing called "work" gets in the way... so I am having it shipped here to Dawsonville, GA (45mn's north of Atlanta). I have this fear that I will be incompetent in the mounting and electrical wiring... Is anyone in this area would offer their help spending the day mounting it? Aligning? I hate to get on the road with a wrong set up... This will probably happen in 3 to 5 weeks...
I do have a garage... tools... and good food! (www.personalchefara.com)and always "freshly roasted Coffees" from all over the world!
I am really excited about all this... no more leaving my dog "Spirit" behind!

This is the set up that I am looking at...

I live on 14 acres... plenty of room... make it an adventure... spare bedroom... you name it...

Thanks in advance...
Be well...

Ara,
Have you spoken with Blue Moon Cycle? I think that they are close to you and they advertise sidecars on their website ...
Ara,
You might want to contact someone with the Georgia Sidecar Club, loys of experience within their ranks... here is the link:

Also Gary Haynes is up in W.Va. with the Sidecar Magic Shoppe.

I may be down in Tacoa, Ga., north of Atlanta, sometime in March. If so maybe we could get together. If you are using Jay's setup for this rig it should take a lot of the hassle out of it.
Feel free to email me anytime at cstanley@sunlink.net
Hi Claude... Thanks for the reply... Yes, I will be using, actually calling today, Jay's rig. I already have some pictures, happens to show the mountings on their website for an identical bike as mine (GS1100), and I am sure that as he mentionned he will have instructions on the alignement...
End of March should coincide with my receiving the rig... Ochoa is close to me... welcome to stop by here anytime... if nothing else for a good cup of coffee...
Will also drop by Blue Moon today to see if they would be interested in doing the whole thing (mounting) and just have the crate shipped there.
They do not sell Urals so there should not be any "bad feelings" as to not buying a rig from them!!!
You be well...

Hey Duck... the order is in... rig should be here early or mid April (ordered URAL with the TILT) and Jay is mailing me today his book also... more than welcome to borrow it sometime if you like... I am sure it will have invaluable info...
This Dog of mine is getting expensive!!!
Be well.. Ara
Well, you never know how Landstrom will react, but he won't actually kill you for asking. I suspect with the directions you'll be getting, the hardest part will be getting over the initial stage fright. I'm up in
Asheville, but if no one is close enough, I imagine I could drive down- it would be about a 3 hour drive? Usually worth it as the fries at the Burger King in the North end of Travelers Rest are the best in the Carolinas. Go figure...

No.... I am still alive! Getting some realy good info on the Web... on this SITE specially... spending hours reading about alignement (I love the one with the NEON lights!!!... I think 2x4's with nails ans string sounds more like it!...) and I truly believe that the TILT option is going to help a lot... I can imagine the stage fright however!... with the GS and living on 14 acres I think I will do circles around the house first!!!...
This happening probably mid April you are more than welcome to come down... I think we can do better than "french fries" at www.personalchefara.com... spare bedroom also here if needed... you name it... I could even show you how to roast coffee...
The bottom line is I appreciate your offer... you are more than welcome... the hard part now is the wait!... and looking for a smaller solo bike to zoom around the Mountains here... after all... we do have some of the best riding this country has to offer!
You be well... stay in touch... Ara

Ara, It’s probably not a bad think waiting for your rig to show up, in fact it might be a good idea to treat us newbeez as if we were buying a gun, a grace period to settle down and learn about our new venture and possible weapon. By the way if you keep posting your web address you may have a small army at your front door in April….I read your menu….
14 acres and gourmet cooking….sounds like a rally site to me!

You are absolutely right about the grace period... good for the sunbconscience also to assimilate the totally new fashion of "driving"...
It is a good thing... busy with work right now anyhow...
A get together... yes... someday... will do a cook out... scrumptuous desserts with... you name it... been doing this 39 years and still loving every minute of it... Will need better weather... soon.!
Thanks for the interest...
Be well...

When you get a better idea of the time, post again to remind me/us. Nothing like a good old fashioned sidecar raising! With all the neighbors helping, we should be able to get it up/on in .... ah... (foooood)....uh- prolly a few days max. Urals are tough, though. Might take a week or two.
BTW- a couple pieces of angle-iron up on bricks or pieces of 4x4 work for me just fine. It'll be a miracle if you get it perfect the first time anyway. It may take quite a while for you to get to know your rig to even know what perfect would be.

You are a funny guy "Uncle Ernie"... I like that as life with no humor has no leads!
As far as a "miracle" to get it right the first time... from all my readings... yes... I realize that! But... will get it right...
Will let you know definitely as time approaches... Jay is looking at end of March...which means probably the first week of April with shipping... sounds like they are backed up but he has hired some new guys that he is praising...
Thanks... and be well.
