Photobucket

I've still got a lot to do before she's roadworthy, but today I got her close. This was never one of my favorite body styles. I always thought they should be painted to look like a wedge of cheese, but it's growing on me. Barb likes the space in it and I'll get to see what electric lean and a disc brake on a sidecar are all about. :0) See you on the Highway.

Hello Mike,
Me too, today I finaly got a software and proportional controler to work I bought a year ago.
Big projects are waiting for that one....

But hey buddy, you will enjoy the grunt out of the cellar of your new
concrete mixer engine.
(there is the story that the Guzzi V7 was develloped out of a concrete mixer engine, if its realy true I am not so sure about.)

I am sure the nowerdays Guzzi has much better electrics then to my student times, when we compared them with italian washing machines or british Lukas "knight of darkness".
The engine and breaks everybody always loved, but most people I knew remade their electric system after latest 6 years.
I am sure today that will not be as serious any more.

Good bless you and may he give you many miles on the road full of...

PURA VIDA! = PURE LIFE!

Enjoy it.

Sven Peter

Front spokes seem to be original....May I suggest in a while at a mayor maintanence that you change to extra heavy spokes.

I've been away from the USCA site for a couple of years, but if my memory serves, you used to have a Valkyrie rig. Still have that or have you moved completely to a Guzzi? My Valk with the 2 seater is still giving us lots of fun.

Nope, the Valkyrie went to a new owner in Tuscon last Christmas. All I have now is the Guzzi.
I'm really pleased with the way it handles a sidecar this size. I had thought I would have to regear the rear axle, but it seems to have plenty of pick up just as it is.
I took it for a "spirited" test drive today and was truly amazed at what it was capable of.
I do miss the Valk though. :0)

"spirited", eh? Sounds like fun.

I have to believe it handles a bit better than the Valk. I did end up having SideEffects adjust my triple trees and the steering is much easier, but it still tracks straight and true better than it turns. 🙂

Have a great week.

Hi Mike:thatlooks like a neat rig but why dod you get rid of that bueatiful Royale?you had think that was you?Taking my Wing to Rice Lak4e tpo have the steerite triple tree installed.Piut in POrogr43essive springs sure helped the ride.Hope will; make it easier to drive!Sure like tha Guzzi.I have my 81 G1 in Az already has the mounts from long ago when I had a velorex on it.May try to find a car out there for itgetting lazy holding them up is lot of work. But don't miss the old Velorex habit of flying around corners nice to have all three wheels on the ground!!!

Classic Motorbooks Free car and Bike show today in Osceola. We'll be there. Barb didn't like getting in and out of the Coupe. When momma's happy, everybody's happy.

Momma's Happy! Just under 200 miles today and she's already talking about taking the rig to Kentucky next summer. Today is the farthest she's ridden with me in maybe 15 years.
We started the day riding with GrubyGust to New Richmond Harley to look at the new HD's and Urals. From there on to Osceola Wings and Wheels Festival where we met Sheldon Aubut and Moodier.

The sidecar combination worked out well. There are some little things that need to be putzed with. The sidecar brake lever is too close to my bike's brake. My size 13's were hitting the sidecar brake when it wasn't needed. The bike pulled right a bit, even with the electric lean set up so I need to lean it out just a bit more.
30 mpg today which isn't bad with a full load. All in all it was a good Day.

I'm a happy camper.

sounds like a good test ride. And, the 30 mpg sounds great to me. With a small shield onthe bike and after cutting down the shield on the sidecar, the Valk is getting 25. Congrats on the comfort of the new rig.
