I may be a little late to the thread, looks like it's been around a couple of years already.....
I'm 56, will turn 57 on the 4th of July. Not so patiently waiting to get my first sidecar, April 11th - so close yet so far away.

kayakinbiker - 3/13/2011 1:04 PM How do you get young peeps interested in sidecars?

Parenthood. The manufacturers should play up the family thing to younger riders. You can't take the wife and kids on a trike. In this state, you can't even legally take a kid on your motorcycle unless they can reach the unaltered factory installed passenger pegs. Unless you have a sidecar. 😉

I had thought maybe I might go with a trike as I get older, then I realized it's not for me, primarily because I want to see my dog's lil face when I ride..then there's the fact that I can store stuff in the trunk and on the floor, instead of always packing on my bike seat..

i think the sidecar beats the trike in what you can put in the sidecar.i even bought home a Christmas tree many moons ago in one of the police bike/sidecars.the passenger sits lower and gets to see the road .and the kool factor beats the trike.

Didn't read every post, but I am guessing I am the youngest guy here. I turned 28 on Feb 11th. My rig is a goldwing with a California III sidecar. My wife and I have a 4 year old son and we bought the rig so we could all ride together. I still have other 2-wheelers, but something tells my the 3 wheeler will get ridden the most this summer!!

I started riding in 65 when I got out of the army. I built my first sidecar in 68, have had ten of them since then.
Actually If you count the minibike I built with sidecar in 66, I have had 11 of them. When I was young I sidehacked because it was a hoot and different. I ran them off road back then too, there was a class for them in enduro competition.
I will be 67 this summer and now I ride sidecars because of disability, I can still ride a small dirt bike TW200 but sidecars are my main thing and have been for years. I will probably build a rig for the TW200 too.

Yes, Linda, you are exactly right. You are not the type of women who is going to ride a trike - never ever !! You must and will pilot a sidecar when the time is coming and love it with all its joy and fun. I'm sure about that !
Once you've tasted it you will become addicted - forever. Believe me - I know what I am talking about.

BTW: Your bike is a beauty. I have also shared your ride-reports and amazing photos. Really superb !

Ride safe ! Always.......

Thanks for the welcome, I've been riding mc's for years but have always loved the looks of a sidecar,so I found one the wife and I liked and we bought it. Now it has to quit snowing so we can get out and enjoy it.
Thanks again Rick
