The "new guy" again asking for information. I just talked w/Claude at C. Stanley Motorsports and he informs me he can mount various brand sidecars to my BMW K1200LT. I have located a Hitchhiker w/electric camber adjustment and it appears to be in VGC.

Claude informed me that Al Butterfield is highly involved in the United Sidecar Assoc. and is the "go to" guy on Hitchiker sidecars. So, Al or anyone else with info on this brand, which used to be mfg'd in London, OH, please share your knowledge w/me.

The car I have looked at seems to have a very strong frame and a well made car. It has a small trunk and small, partial wrap-around w/s. It may be a bit small for my K1200 but I saw an identical unit on a GW1500 and it looked good.

Any info/advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Bob,
Here is Al's (better known as Fly) info taken from this site:

Yes, as I mentioned the Hitchiker is typically pretty light and may need some mods to work with your K1200LT. It can be done. I have not seen one with an electric tilt control on it so it is possible that there have been modifications done to the sidecar already.

Bob,
Just to clarify...the term camber control or tilt adjustor typically means a device thast tilts the whole rig by jacking the sidecar suspension up or letting it down.

A true lean out adjustor leans the bike away or into the sidecar. It typically has a three point mount.

Either of these systems can be manual or electric. The first one above is the popular one today.

I have an early Hitch Hiker attached to my 1980 H-D FXEF. It has been a bear to get set right but worth the effort. Everywhere I go people just have to check it out. The trunk is far from small and unlike tilt the seat forward trunks, you can easily get stuff in and out of it.
