Hello:
Several of us sidecarists are planning to spend the night in the Mesa/Apache Junction AZ area. We would prefer to stay at a reasonable rate, non-chain motel. If any out there are familiar with the Circle RB Lodge (6547 E. Main Street, Mesa) or the Desert Rose (8924 E. Apache Trail, Mesa) please feel free to send a Yea or Nay, or recommendation for alternatives to: GpCalRep@verizon.net. We plan to be there on May 2, and will need 3 rooms.
Thank you so very much, Gail.

p.s. Does anyone know the condition of highway 88 East out of Tortilla Flat?

I have no personal knowledge of these places, but I do have time on my hands to do a bit of serching and I came up with their Web sites. Of the two, the Circle RB Lodge looks to be the better of the two. As for Hwy 88, it's classified as a scenic biway.

Let us know how your trip was, with all the details, others may want to follow in your treads.

Jim from Reno, NV.

Thank you, Jim.
Apparently the road east of Tortilla Flats is 22/26 miles of gravel. I might be tempted to try it, but not this trip, as time, and a fairly low clearance rig says this will not be the time to satisfy the curiosity and beckoning of the road less traveled. Maybe some day....:-)

We are headed for the Butterfly Rally starting in Silver City, NM, Any chance you'll be heading that way too? If not, thanks for the tips.

I'll be heading to the regional rally in ID in June. Are you considering attending?
Maybe we'll meet up then. In the meantime, Safe riding to you.
Gail

I had started to make plans for the ID Rally, but I am still working on my rig as we speak. I am a disabled rider and I have one paycheck between now and then, so logistically speaking, it was out of my reach this year. Although that time will not be a total lose, their is a local Rally, Street Vibration Spring Rally, being held that I can attend. A poker run and some senic rides will give me time to give my rig a good shake down for items or areas of repair I missed. It would have been nice to meet up on the road going north.

Here's hoping you have a good ride?

Thank you Peggy. I'd love to make the run to Tortilla Flats, and even attempt the gravel part to get to the Roosevelt Dam, but gravel and big holes makes for a long long day.

What kind of rig do you have? Any chance you can swing by the motel and say "Hi" to our little group from CA? There will be three rigs.

Thanks for your time - safe riding to you,
Gail
