I am interested in taking our FS III frame and building a body for it that would better fit our 3 kids. I am looking for anyone who has a larger sidecar I can look at in my area. If you have one or know of one please let me know. Or any info would be greatly appreciated even over the phone or emailing photos.... I have talked to Doug at Sidestrider he has been very helpful.

I have no photos, but if you can, come to the SKUNK Rally on June 3, there will be a lot of people there with years of experience. Maybe someone there will be able to help. http://www.cwizard.com/skunk/ Rally runs June 2-4, but if you just want to come to look, early afternoon on the 3rd is when they are all lined up.

If you already have the sidecar frame (from the Friendship III), designing the sidecar body shouldn't be very difficult (just your imagination and creativity???). To build it, either by yourself or with help from a sheet metal or wood worker. I would not contact a sidecar rigger as you already have the frame.

Not sure if I can make it to the Rally. Judging from the photos from past rallies it looks like mostly factory built rigs. I would relly like to just see one schoolbus or woody type to really inspire me. Also mine has an air shouch and not sure how i would work around that as its kind of in the way for straight lines like the bus models?? Piero Thanks for the photo that helps. I don't suppose that car is yours??

Hi kramer765,

Thats funny, my neighbour is also called Kramer, I think your grand-grand fathers came from the Netherlands.
Many bus type sidecars were made in Great-Britain after the war, a friend of mine has two of them I,ll take pictures of them en send them to this side.
It is not neccesary to build a bus type sidecar to carry three children, it depends from their age and weight.
In Europe there are many two seaters ( I build one myself, pictures in the album ) which can carry three children ( two next to eachother, one in the front ).
Try working with polyester, you can give the sidecar any shape you want.

Greetings,

Ingmar

Doug Bingham used to have a bus kit available. I don't know if he is still doing them but get ahold of him at SideStrider, Inc. or call him at 718-780-5542.

I am always amazed that people respond to posts without ever reading the original. I have already talked to Doug.

Don't spank me too hard kid, I just got back from a hellacious trip to Rainy California, through the Donder and Blitzen and these old eyes are tired.

No spanking intended Lonnie. lol
Thanks Ingmar for the photos they are helpful. My biggest 2 problems are
1. What to use for cheap windows as I want them to be able to come out quickly or open up without spending much money??
2. How to build around the shock?

HI Kramer,

Windows can be made by using aluminium profiles and lexan ( kind of plastic glass that won,t break ), don,t use plexiglass, when breaking this could be very dangerous.
Sorry for my english but what do you mean building around the shock?

Greetings, Ingmar
