Hello and hopefull
This is my first posting. I have a 1977 Moto Guzzi 850 T-3 FTb with a Globe sidecar attached by the previous owner. ( India manufactured Licensed copy of a Steib??)The front end is an English made Earls fork design with air shocks.
Right now it needs some attention as far as running, wiring, gas tank flush etc. as it has been sitting in my pole barn for about three years. There are a bunch of circumstances that also contributed to the Hack becoming a 'Lady in waiting'. I'll spare all of you.
Biggest detail is not the mechanicals' of the rig but my passenger and best friend of 37 years of confused wedded bliss, Chris. It has taken six weeks post op from a knee operation in order to get her leg to bend enough to even consider getting in the chair. Now things look promising even if there IS two inches of fresh fallen snow for April Fools Day.
I have been riding since '71' on many different bikes but this is my first Hack Rig. I have a total of eight bikes, six of them are what I call 'Orphans' looking for repair. The two bikes I try to keep tags on all year are the '77' R75/7 BMW and the '73' Moto Guzzi 850 Eldorado. All the rest are either BMW or Moto Guzzi with one vintage Harley that requires a hole sawn through my cellar wall. ( Another story)
I was SUPPOSE to be retired from active duty Army, ( Combat Medic) in 2001 but someone had to help pay for three College degrees ( wife and two daughters) and it would have helped a lot if the economy cooperated with gainful employment for all of them but oh well. So I continue to work as a medical assistant in a busy emergency room. I still like my work after 35 years so its OK not to be fully retired.
I pretty much do all my own work and some of the machining, Paint, electrics, upholstery but I do get lazy with tire changes.
Rallies are neat and I am looking forward to the Yankee Beemers rally at Heath Mass the beginning of August but I would also like to try to make some of the North East Side Car stuff as well. Being semi retired and the wife no longer able to work, I am always looking for affordable camp sites and often wilderness camp in the National Forest when available. I get grumpy at paying $35 or more for a piece of dirt and a picnic table.
All the best!!! Sincerely, Larry and Chris Davis
Welcome to the world of sidecaring. There a number of rallies in your part of the states check below.
Welcome folks,
There are a lot of "Was was-es" here with similar hobbies and goals.
Unlike the Northeast many of us here on the Westside have been hacking since New Years.
Post a pic or two of your rig (rigs) and jump into the fray.
Lonnie
Hmmm, don't know if I can pull this off but i'll give it a try.

Let me submit this and see if it works, I am getting itchy to go for a ride as the sun is coming up and it's already above freezing. Larry
Worked fine. First video attachments I've seen on the site.
Hint: Level the Globe car and set the rig up with some lean-out instead of lean-in for better tracking without the pull to the right.

Thanks Lonnie, the video was the first ride in a chair by the wife, so it is documented history so to speak. I will get it out on the road once sorted to see how it tracks but I am not sure why the previous owner did not level the chair.
I am also thinking of using a marine battery box and big automotive battery for ballast when running solo with the rig. Still thinking of the mounting of it, I would rather it be low and on the outside of the chair. Any idea where I can get a spare 'rubber band' for the suspension as I believe that they are the originals and I am concerned about dry rot after pulling this out of a barn in Connecticut. Thanks again Lonnie, Larry
