It's probably just as well that Harley has quit taking orders for sidecars since they have now moved into the trike business. I took a demo ride on a trike about a week ago. It was nice, but just not the same as having a real motorcycle connected to a sidecar. It's sort of like a sidecar, minus the romance. LOL.

For the masses, a trike is probably better choice. Not much to adjust, no lean, no toe in, no pesky mounts. Kind of boring, though. I only took a ten minute ride and I was bored when I got back to the dealer.

There is a market there, however. The trikes seem to be selling......and at $35,000 plus tax, too. (Cough, cough).
They're nice, I guess, but I'd never, ever buy one. Maybe in my next incarnation, though. 🙂

It should improve sales of used Harley sidecars in the years to come....supply and demand. We shall see.

gnm109,
I agree whole heartedly, I would never even consider a trike. I just don't like 'em. We're enjoying the sidecar so much, even tho' it's a Honda, that we are really wanting to hack the Harley, but this doggone economy is really hurting that idea. If it doesn't sell tho' it'll get attached in the spring !!!!
We just got back from that 2 week, 3,371 mile vaca with the hack, now we're leaving tomorrow for a short trip with the Harley over to the Outer Banks.
They're all fun, just some are more fun than others !!!

Absolutely. Those are going to get extremely scarce. Liberty, I understand, uses a modified Harley mount setup. They'll probablly start doing their own. In a few years, people will have to start machining the scarce ones.

I already build a heavy duty clamp that replaces the U-bolts on the rear mount on Harley TLE sidecars. I've sold several recently on eBay. I can imagine that a whole new cottage industry will pop up now.

Harley sidecars are gone, but not forgotten. LOL.
