Can anybody tell us if the fire in the area of Griffith park in LA has caused any damage to the park area.

I believe that this is the place that Doug Bingham of Sidestrider has had his sidecar rally this year would be 36 years

GP is a relatively big park. The rally area is over at the eastern edge of the park. From the pictures I saw on the tellie this AM is looks like the fire is further west. If you hear about the zoo getting evacuated and golfers starting to weep, then our area could be in danger.

The fire did cause the zoo to be evacuated on Monday, the golf course was evacuated on Sunday shortly after the fire started. The fire burned right down to the theater parking lot that was being used for the command center, they almost had to evacuate that also. From what I heard this evening they have the fire under control and should be out by tomorrow. Most of the damage was in the hills so it should not have any effect on the rally (I hope). I plan on taking a ride up there on Saturday as long as they have the roads reopened.

It was pretty sad. I live a couple miles from the Park, watched some of it from the top floor balcony.

To the best of my knowledge, traveltown was not damaged at all. The fire was contained to only brush and there was only one structure damaged which was a house with Shake Shingle roof. They are saying that they hope to have the park reopened by this weekend. 75% contained and expected to be out by 6 pm tonight.
