Glorious night for a ride!

I've always been a night rider. My favorite time to ride is from about 2 a.m. till dawn when there are almost no cars out and about.
My son called tonight to say his normal rde to work was having car trouble and could I help him out. One look out the window at the full moon rising over the lake and I was suiting up to take the Valkyrie.
I wish I didn't have to get up early tomorrow, I would have stayed out all night.
Just be sure to watch for the woods rats! I counted 11 separate groups of deer in less than 36 miles. Just the same, a crystal clear night of about 70 degrees! Heaven on earth.
Mike, DO watch out for those deer! We don't need another Lawrence Grodsky. I'm sure he was riding safely and was aware of the danger of deer, but still .... we lost a great writer.

I do watch for them, but they are everywhere up here. Even in daylight you see them all over.
I always laugh at the guys around here who ride two abreast in groups all day but put the bikes away at dusk because of the deer. Just yesterday I had three of them cross the highway in front of me at about 2 in the afternoon.
Mike,
You're right! They are everywhere, even during daylight hours. But they are so much more difficult to spot at night. I killed one in the spring of '99 and then lost one of my best friends who hit one while riding right behind me in the fall. Now I hate riding at night! Of course, if it's a nice, bright, moonlit night, it's better! Lately, for me, it's been turkeys and buzzards! Of course, they probably aren't as dangerous as deer, but they could still mess-up your plans!
Anyway, if you are going to ride at night, do be careful!
