Hello everyone, After riding street bikes for about 3 years I just picked up a 92 Honda nighthawk with a velorex 700 on it that I found at a local sidecar rally. Already put a couple hundred miles on it and hoping to take it for a trip up into the Sierras next week.

Hope I get a chance to ride with some of you down the line.

Ben

Cool!

How is the transition from 2 wheels to 3?

The first night was a bit weird but after that it has been pretty easy. The rig was pulling hard to the right but I have it pretty dialed in now, neutral steering at 65mph.

Turns out there was about 3/4" of toe-OUT even with the front strut at its minimum length and the back maxed out. Whoever built the mounts didn't make the back one long enough, impossible to get proper toe-in. Welded a new one up today and reset everything, made a huge difference in effort. I also made he wheelbase about 2" wider while I was at it and was able to remove some ballast from the chair.

Going to be taking a 3 day camping trip up into the Sierras with it at the end of this week, should still be nice and green at Tuolumne Meadows.

Ben,
good to hear you are enjoying it!
make sure the toe-in is about 1/4"... very small. the toe in does not affect the pull to the right much.it makes the rig go straighter with less wandering around. also, too much toe-in will grind your rear tire down, very fast!
the proper lean out/in is what will make the rig go straight at normal HWY speeds... your personal liking.
lean it out to go left, lean it in to go right..this just s little amount...experimnt for the proper amount you need.
