Howdy folks.. well I got my Dnepr hack all mountd up on my dl1ooo strom and was reaaly excited to get hackn.. first ride today didn't go so well.. I have 3 degrees of leanout and hmm I forget, either 3/4 inch or 1 inch of toe in.. had problems in 2 areas. area 1 was my right hip.. got thrown from my horse many years back and it doesn't take much to light it up.. with the bike leaning away from the car my tendency is to try and sit up straight,, is that a mistake? as it really makes my sciatic nerve bite me.. the other uncomfortable thing was my left arm.. the rig seemed to pull somewhat to the right.. was just wonderin if takin the leanout out would be a good or bad compromise.. also wonderin if anybody thinks maybe stickn a wedge under my left butt cheek to straighten my torso is a viable idea?? also the arm pain thing.. would a raked tree help with that?? sorry for the stupid newb questions..just hopin some ideas may eliminate a bunch of trial and ERROR.. thanks

Three degrees lean out is a big bunch. Are you sure your other measurements are correct?
I have never used more than one and a half on any of the ten rigs I have owned and ridden.
I can definitely see that much lean out causing some seating problem.

Vernon has a good video on alignment. Sounds like you need some adjustments.

Also some guidelines on the Sidecar Industry Council Page

Ergonomics with old, beat up riders can be a challenge. On that wedge idea, I'd hold off until you got the bike set up the way you want it with the right amount of lean out, toe in and wheel lead. Then maybe some steering mods if needed. Also consider getting a lowered footrest bracket on that side.

And are you using the stock DL bars? Because those bars have been a source of complaints for many guys since that bike first came out. I installed a set of MSR ATV-High bars on my DL1000 and not only were they wider than stock (better leverage on a hack) but the ergos were better with a more neutral wrist position.

After you get all that figured out, if you still wanted to tilt the seat then I'd be going under the seat to see what kind of tricks I could conjure up to tilt the entire seat by fooling around with the bumpers and hardware.

The bike should be stright up and down on the "average" road. The reason for lean out is that you are setting this up on a level floor and the road has a crown to it. If you send me an email request at jay@dmcsidecars.com I will send you basic sidecar instalation instructions.
If you want lighter steering we build what we call leading legs that bolt to the bottom of the forks to reduce trail.
